Well maybe they do sound like that, but how loud is loud enough?

I am sorry to offend anyone, but running straight pipes is just annoying. I had headers on my first car, but I didn't run them open on the street (open on the drag strip) and had mufflers of some sort on them....glass packs or turbo muffler.

+1. Why why why??? Maybe just put a loud sound system in if straight pipes aren’t loud enough. But sound doesn’t = horse power. I cringe when I hear an otherwise stock truck blow by with the popcorn exhaust noise. Unless you have a camed and blown drag rig, keep a muffler on it.

It's all just a matter of opinion but I still know that tips make NO difference.

Inside, no. Outside, definetaly. Maybe not with certain mufflers, but ive heard my engine with straight pipes and had 2.5" pipe coming out the back and it sounded raspier and more popping than mine. Ive got 4x12 tips on my straight pipes and it deepened the tone quite a bit

Default Best exhaust tip

I have an exhaust tip on my new F150 that is perfect. You guys should check out www.coffmansexhaust.com. They have the coolest tips. I've never seen anything like them for trucks before.
