Default Payload Sticker

I've got a 2001 F150 Lariat SuperCrew and I don't have a Payload Sticker. Any thoughts or place I can find my payload rating? I've looked at all of the doors, nothing there. Checked every other conceivable place to look, and I have come up empty. I've looked at VIN readers and that's about the only number I can't get a hold of. Any suggestions???

This goes along with my post last page or 2 on the camper pic thread with the pics of my camping set-up. These are the door sticker and scale tickets...

This was weighed with the gas, fresh, grey, and black water tanks at least 75% full, and my son & wife with me in the pick-up. In my premise, that's about the most weight we'll carry, as I doubt our son, 30, is going with us often, just added him for ballast...LOL...

Talked with service guy at RV shop. By adding a link to my chain attachment at the hitch I'll add more weight to the rear axle, so that's what I'll do next time. Will that overload my payload figure, which I don't know exactly what it is??

Looking at the last pic, I feel my trailer is nose high. This is the scale ticket set-up, so I have a couple of links available to play with. All my numbers are okay, the steer is only 20# over, but in real life I don't think we'll have that problem.

GCWR for a 2wd 5.4 with 3.55 gears is 13,000 lbs. Max trailer weight is 8000 lbs.

Well, there's what Ford said to make sure they wouldn't get lawsuits, then there is what the truck can actually do. It depends a lot on your tires though too, your truck is only as strong as the weakest link. Make sure you have tires that can handle a big load, I always run a 10 ply (load range E) tire.

Technically you don't need 10 plys. The tow rating is developed with the stock P metrics. That being said I like the way LTs handle and prefer 8 or 10 plys to the p metrics. But not for load capacity... No way these trucks will even scratch the surface of a 10 ply rating

I just like things over built for their purpose. Though my tires can carry a lot more than my truck can, I'll still shell out the extra cash for an LT E rated tire.

Thumbs up Excellent tires

I've got the tires covered, for sure. I'm running Dextero DHT2 265/65/17's on it now. They're 10 ply E rated tires, and I love them. This is actually the second set of these. When I bought the truck in '13, it had crappy P metrics on it, and I blew out a LR just before the Mobile Bay Tunnel on the way from Texas to Florida. Luckily, nothing happened except the tire, and went to Wal-Mart in Mobile and got a pair of tires, losing about 3 hours that evening.

Momma wasn't real confident about the fronts, so I called WM in Tallahassee, from the hotel in the morning. Found out they had some tires, but also found out Mobile put on car tires, not the LT's like I told them I wanted. Got to the store, store managers bicker over what to do, Talla. manager gave me full credit on the Mobile tires, and I put 4 new LT's on it. Best thing I ever did. They ride real nice, and have worn exceptionally well. About 4/32nds in over 20K, so I'm really happy with them.

Went to Discount Tire & got those new wheels in the picture, but one of the tires was bad. It had a cut on the inside by the bead, and DT wouldn't mount it. Road hazarded the tire out at WM, and got another new one to make a pair. Did it a second time, since they gave me the tire back, so I got 4 new tires on the truck, plus a good spare. Son bought the other used pair to put on his truck.

Since I drove big truck for better than 25 years, I know the importance of good tires, preventative maintenance, and having proper equipment. I've got a long list of items that will be checked/replaced as funds allow. You can't just grab a 15 yo truck and hitch a 6500# trailer to it. As a matter of fact, the trailer's in the shop. On each of the trip's we've taken, the LR wheel has had grease spitting out on the wheel itself, so she went back to the dealer. The trailer doesn't have a 100 miles on it, and it's brand new. We have a trip planned down to Galveston in June, so with a 4 week shop time, we'll hopefully get it out just before the trip.

Thanks, Blu

Didn't realize that chart was in the owners manual. I've seen the other info that's on the site with the capacities for towing, but I know payloads are more truck specific, because of the options on each truck. That's what's driving me crazy. I know all my numbers should be good, since the GVWR on the trailer is only 6500#, and with that trailer weight on the ticket, with all the water/waste tanks >75%. Even at gross weight on both units, I'm right at GCWR, so I don't think I'll hit it, well maybe not too hard....

I think your right where you should be. Perfect size trailer for the truck. You will probably get close to max, but not over. The 5.4 will tow that with no problem. The only even slight problem to watch for is transmission overheating, but so long as your not in mountains (not many of those in Texas) and have good fluid in it you should be fine.
I agree the trailer looks a touch nose up in that pic, but I would take a touch nose up than nose down. Do you have a straight receiver? Maybe get one with an inch drop? Maybe adding the link of chain will get it down a little also.
