Red face 1992 F150 XLT Hub

I seem to have a problem.

I recently replaced my rotors on my 1992 f150 XLT. Automatic 4X4

Went through the process, changed the rotors after driving the studs out of the hub. replaced the rotors and repacked the main wheel bearings. All turned out good.

got to where i start putting the hub cover back on. Noticed that the little bearing that acompanies the spring is pretty messed up. figured i would try and clean the grease from it and see if regreasing it would help. and the ball bearing bastards actually escaped.

What is it called? It is not in haynes. Parts stores dont even know what the heck im talking about.

I think you mean the bearing race. Shallow cup that inserts to a ring of ball bearings around it?

Yeah I recognize that, what you need is to either buy new hubs or the overhaul kit from the dealer.

Things around here are next to impossible to get parts for. So in the future i will be a heck of a lot more careful.

But the good news is since i had 4 bearings i measured the size of the bearing. I then went to an old kids bike that they out grew and removed the pedal. I stole the bearings from there. Worked like a charm, albeit with bit of messing around with the needle nose.

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate the pict too!
