Ok, so i pop the hood on my truck the other day when i was replacing my heater core. I look towards the firewall and see a broken vaccum hose, i find out this came from one of the blend door actuators that is at the very top corner of the passenger side under the hood. So i replace the hose and the actuator still isnt working. I look under the dash and find the door it is controling, and there is no ducting going to this door. I can push on the door and see the blower motor. I am trying to figure out what this door is for. The door is under the dash, almost as far right as you can go against the kick panel. The door is just there, nothing blocking it, and like i said when i push on it i can see the blower motor. Its driving me nuts. Why would there be a door that is just open to the cab of my truck?

The vacuum solenoid you were looking at engages that door open so air can pass through the ac vents. With the door closed(or no vacuum) it stays at it's default location which pushes air out of the defrost vents.

No thats what is funny, the vents work on a/c. The a/c works great. I can see that door actuator working when i flip on the a/c. This door is where the floor board and the firewall meet on the passenger side, and there is no ducting. Just an open door.

The door switches your air from recirculate (max) a/c to outside (normal) operation and is controlled by the vacuum operated servo that you can see at the top of the heater a/c box when the hood is open.
