Default Aftermarket stereo installed!

Got tired of listening to my speakers crackle and drop out. Decided it was time to do an upgrade. For $230 this replaces the entire system and gives bluetooth streaming and hands-free capabilities, HD Radio, front usb and auxiliary port, etc. Not a CD player though.

Front speakers: https://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-DB...keywords=db651

Rear speakers: https://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-DB...keywords=db571

Receiver with harness and tools: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-edSIAm...M-BT515HD.html

Got everything in this morning and it sounds pretty damn good for the money. Had to drill new holes for the front speakers but was expecting that. Also had to cut the factory speaker connectors and wire them properly. Haven't wired up the bluetooth mic yet. All in all very happy for the money I spent. We will see if it holds up.

Gotta have tunes! Had to do some modification to my doors for the speakers I put in too!

Did you, or are you going to, put any dynamat or similar sound deadening material in? I'm really thinking about that with mine to quiet down the engine/road/etc. noise.

I have been wanting to dynamat it for awhile. It will probably happen one of these summers. To be honest I am so pleased with just having a functioning sound system again.

Dyna matting things seems a bit much, would be nice but still, i did end up having to put some foam in the headliner, couldn't stand the noise.

Was i the only one that found out the wiring for the front speakers is messed up from the factory ? It's not how it is supposed to be on my truck, maybe it was just mine...lol

Mech less decks are pretty nice, surprisingly cheap too.

Nice man! I made a thread where I upgraded my stereo system. Started out the application Kenwood similar to yours. Was OK but I'm a radio head and the kenwood just didn't cut it. Changed it out for an Alpine and wow. I have to say that I will never settle for a cheap head unit ever again. Sound quality is a night and day difference. Alpine has soo many more tuning options and is better built. I do like your setup man, not downing you by any means. As far as sound deadening, I put some time into mine and it didn't break the bank. With ,your windows up, you can't hear a thing outside. Just pure music.
I also use componet speakers( separate crossovers and tweeters) and they are amped

I have always been an alpine guy too. If I were ever to build a real, active system, it would start with an alpine head unit.

I only chose kenwood here because it was $50 cheaper than the comparable Alpine unit. And it has HD radio and a better EQ. Who knows the Alpine might even make it sound better, but for now ignorance is bliss hehe.

Lol, I understand man. I'm sure it sounds good! I'm ocd and am never satisfied. I do like Polk speakers though. Efficient and sounds good.
