Larger fuel tank swap help
I wanted to know if anyone had any hands on experience or knowledge relating to swapping in a bronco 32 gallon fuel tank or one of the LMC 38 gallon tanks into my truck. I have a 1996 regular cab long box 4x4 and it only has a single 18.5 gallon rear tank. I have been looking around here as well as various other forums and have seen some conflicting information. I just wanted to know if the fuel tank from a 1996 bronco will swap over to my truck without any fabrication. I read in some places that a new cross member had to be welded in, and other places said the tank would swap right over. I know that I will need the bronco hanger assembly with the pump and sending unit. I know I will need longer tank straps, but is the bronco skid plate necessary as well? If the bronco tank won't work, will the 38 gallon tank made for 87-89 trucks swap in with no fab? would that tank need a bronco hanger for that tank as well since it is deeper? would I need a new filler neck for either tank?
I'm just looking for some solid information, and possibly some photos as well from someone who has done the swap or has the knowledge of how to do the swap.

For what it's worth - Bronco and F150 will accept the same rear bumper but there are some special brackets you have to use for the bronco; I think the frame may be a little wider back there, although I never measured. You might want to take some careful measurements to make sure your frame rails are wide enough for the bronco tank.
