One more question if you could help:

In all pics the 18' lights appear more orangish. How do they compare in real life to the red 15'-17' LED lights?

I like the looks of 15'-17' lights better as well (and had upgraded to LED from stock halogens). However I agree with the concerns over rear visibility so eventually I will give this a shot.

Is the difference that significant in rear visibility? I know the 18' lights double the surface area of light from the tail lights, but they are still just narrow horizontal strips.

Also, do the 18' tail lights stick out less from the body? The two boxy bumps on the 15'-17' lights always seemed odd.

I know you don't want to hear this, but I would suggest going to your local dealer and looking at the 2018 tail lights in person rather than making a decision based on photos or someone's personal opinion.

I have been planning to stop by a dealership near me to see them up close in person (as well as looking out for 18' trucks on the roads).

My primary interest in these 18' lights is the better rear visibility at night. You said they do have better visibility, and I was hoping you would have more info on that (ex. others have given you feedback that your truck is easier to see from behind, you've noticed that in inclement weather the tail lights are much more visible, etc). Unfortunately I can't see how these look after dark by going to a dealership.

The other asks about the red/orange color and shape were out of curiosity. Thanks for confirming that this swap works.

The bracket for the BLIS module is also a different part # for 2018:

JL3Z-14D189-B (LH)

So I bought some 2018 LEDs for my ‘16 Platinum. I need to get the ‘18 modules, so does that mean I buy two of the modules (same part number) and then one right bracket and one left?

Thanks!

Yes, however I don't believe anyone has installed 2018 BLIS modules in a 2015-17 and successfully used the original As Built data. Perhaps someone else could chime in and confirm.

PS: the 2018 BLIS As Built data is very different than the 2015-17.
