Anyone mount a rooftop tent?
Looking into some options for a rooftop tent, wondering if anyone has done it over the cab or over the bed. Just doing some early research.
Specifically I have a 2016 SC 4x4 with the 5.5' box. Would love to see some pictures of your rooftop setup if you got 'em.
Thanks in advance!

I picked up the Thule Xsporter bed rack system for this purpose. Will have in the lowered position in transport and then up high (so I can effectively use the RTT annex) when in use. Whenever I get some time to test this out (hopefull soon) I will submit some pics.
I don't believe an overcab system will work, just based on weight.

Haven't yet, but I do have an off road trailer I built with an RTT that I am planning on moving over to the F150 for shorter camping trips.

We have used the bedtent that we sell on our 2015 5.5 bed. Really nice system.

I'd be very interested in seeing some RTT setups. I'm thinking about getting one next summer when my son is a little older.
I'm considering a Wild Coast Tent from Nova Scotia....

Just got mine set up for the F150 last weekend....I'll get some pix posted ASAP.
I've had the Front Runner Feather Lite since 2009, and love it! I've had it on an Element, an Odyssey, 3 Ridgelines, a UTV, and now my F150.
I modified a ladder rack, by lowering the height, so with the tent mounted (closed up), the top is just flush with the roof of the truck. I have it set up to open long ways, behind the truck. Took one of my boys "boondoggle" camping last weekend to try it out, everything worked great! We're planning to try it again Saturday, if it doesn't get too hot & humid. Not much fun when you lay & sweat without even moving...
I store it on a Harkin Hoist in the garage when not in use, so it's a simple one man operation going on & off, and I leave the rack attached to the tent. Tent & rack come off, tonneau goes on, quick and easy.
I'm now toying with the idea of a queen air mattress underneath the RTT, in the bed of the truck, with a mosquito net draped around it, for some double decker sleeping. The RTT is really only big enough for 2, so when both my boys & wife all go, we've had to set up a separate tent on the ground. This way would keep everyone off the ground, and the lower bunk would stay pretty dry unless a windy rain blew in. When the RTT is opened up, it pretty much covers the whole bed & tailgate.
Anyway, enough rambling....pix coming up!
