Iottie magnetic that fits into the cd slot. Out of the way, use it simply for google maps as I bought truck used and have base head unit. And I no longer use cd’s.
Nevermind the dust......left my windows open🤦🏿. I use Ford/Alexa app most of the time, plug in to charge is close, phone is out of the way. I don't even look at it because I use Siri to call, and F/A for everything else. We have prime music.......

I do use my cell over bluetooth, but as far as I can tell, I have to have my phone's music app running to play my music and that requires navigating on the actual phone. is there some other way?
No, if you play music on your phone through bluetooth the music will play and you can use the stock navigation just fine. If you run the phone's navigation it will only play the audio but will not show the map on the truck's screen. You have to plug the phone in for the phone's navigation on-(truck's)screen.
One thing to consider with any mount for phone, GPS or other electronic device is that exposure to the HOT sun for extended periods will cause issues. The issue may only be a shutdown, which requires cooling to restart, but might cause other long term or permanent problems. Tossing a phone into the dash top junk box is not a good idea if the solar heater is in full throttle. I have had a GPS blank out due to sun exposure, but after putting it in my drink cooler for a short time it recovered.
We pay too much for our electronics devices to subject them to the possibilities of damage. The low mounts work well and keep the phones. etc. out of eye view too.
Some of the mounts shown in this thread are really innovative though! To each his own.
Great point. I pull my Nuvicam out of the window every time I park. Have had it overheat once as well as my iphone, and the phone wasn't in direct sun either.
I am looking for a good phone holder for my new truck. I had a grill-mount for my subaru which worked well but it obviously blocked the air. I looked at a few cup holders, like this one, but I think it might get in the way of audio and climate controls. I would like to have it within easy reach.
anyhow, curious what other have.
Apple car play and Android auto are designed for hands free use for music, phone calls, and texting. I use my USB and console. Too many people are on the road texting and driving. Use the technology, the life you save may be your own.
I turned the headrest around on my center seat/console and added a "grip pad" and lay the phone on that. It does block my HVAC controls, but I don't adjust them much. I have a charging cable running from the back charging port up under the seat and to the phone.
After MUCH reading, experimenting and two failed calls to ford's sync department (poor connection on their end both times) I have found that there is no way to navigate my personal music connection on my phone, via vocal commands, simply by plugging it in (or bluetooth). BUT if I have my music app open (Pi Muisc Player) then I can listen to whatever folder I happen to have open at the time. if I want a different folder, I have to navigate to that one.through my phone manually.
I also dropped all of my music onto a thumb drive and found that 1) the music sounds terrible (lack of highs and lows) and 2) I still cannot navigate via voice to the various folders.
Anyone, Please feel free to educate me on how to do this if I and ford Tech support are wrong.
Anyhow, so I grabbed my old vent-connected phone holder and swapped the vent connector out with the suction-cup attachment and found a great place to put it - on the flat spot right below the dial for 4-wheel drive. Since I will rarely use 4WD, it doesn't matter if the dial is blocked and this way my air vent isn't blocked. the phone is at an angle and spot where I can quickly see maps, or music and change whatever folder I need to (when safe to do so).
I don't see why you'd be able to use voice commands with sync to navigate through random folders on your phone or usb
I don't think it can either, but a couple people here made it sound like it is possible.
I don't see why navigating music folders via voice command should be any kind of challenge, but then again i don't see why I have to have my phone physically connected to see Google maps on the truck's screen (via android auto), unless google has some deal with Ford to make it cumbersome so that google maps didn't make ford's navigation unnecessary.
