I have a ProClip but the tape has long since given up and it started sliding around. Thinking about trying to use some foam tape to replace it and let the tension hold it in place. Or I may just go the iOttie route as I've got one of those that I don't use in the Mustang.

Anyone know which kind of 3M tape the ProClip used?

And no it doesnt interfere with wireless charging at home if you use that too.

Same one I have goes right in my vent holds on strong and the magnet doesn't interfere with the phone I think I only paid like 12 bucks for it at Walmart

I have the ProClip and have used it since March 2019 in two different trucks and I never removed the tape liner. It is still locked in place and has not moved or slid around. I imagine that you could use https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Scotc...C-SF/203405976

I use it on a lot of surfaces and it holds very well. It will also come off without residue when needed.

Default I'm going to try the pro clip.

The biggest problem with the vent mounts is that when you have the heat cranking in the winter your phone is going to overheat like you read about. And as for those magnetic mounts, forget physical damage to the phone or data loss, you're going to screw up the tiny permanent magnet the phone uses to determine direction of travel to help with GPS navigation.

I have been using the Smart & Easy one for 4 years now and no issues with the magnet messing up phone. See photos on mine from 4 years ago on here.

I've had the dash bar pro-clip mount for a few years now. Long enough that the tape has lost most of its adhesion on the top of the dash. Need to fix that as it does slide around some (not a hateful amount though). I will say I do like having my phone somewhere up high as it makes it easier to use nav apps without having to look away from the road. I tried CarPlay but got annoyed with having to switch around to get to Sirius, Waze taking over the audio out, etc.

I forget what brand this mount is but charges my phone wirelessly while it's in it. I have the power cord run down the side of the seat and plugged into the rear power port. Its solid and works great.
