Thats a good idea- I may make rails like that just for cargo attachment- put a couple stainless hooks in those, and make it easier for cargo net/ grocery shopping or to keep cargo in the front/back of the bed with moveable cross bars...

Here's what I did:

If I had the hardware to make a metal bracket / rail, I would. But since I don't, it looks like a piece of furniture.
Be sure to use lockwashers / nylon nuts, or it'll vibrate apart.

Toadsmasher2K1, think you could come up with a solution for a 10'8" SUP rack based on the box link? Not really looking to do a ladder rack style, would love to keep it lower profile, if there's any way to have bars go across the bed flush with the tailgate, that would be ideal!!

I just dropped my older... 2007? Specialized Stumpjumper 29er in the bed, and it looks like it'll fit if I tuck the bike's rear wheel just in front of the truck's wheel well. It won't fit straight across. The bike is just too long.

Back to the drawing board... RockyMounts sent me an updated version that doesn't come close to fitting the BoxLink cleat. I may reach out to them to see if their old version is still available, but in the meantime, I'm without a solution.

You could always put a piece of wood in between the box link and the mount. You'd have to recess the bolt/nut locations to make it mount flush to both pieces.

I don't mind working with wood, but if it's going to be exposed to the elements, I think I'd rather just go the route of powdercoated square tube.

I made a bike rack for my old truck using some of the Thule fork mounts and, instead of wood, got a piece of Trex decking material in a 2x4 and used that. No concern for the elements, but I sprayed it with bedliner anyway. You might be able to do the same using the e-track brackets.

I wonder if I could just get the aluminum coated with bedliner? If I prepped it first? Yeah... I like that idea as opposed to powdercoating. I'll bet I could get it done cheap.
