Default Dealership Labor rates

Was quoted a price of $415.00 to install a set of Bilstein 4600 struts and a front end alignment. Their labor rate is $120/HR. 2.5 hours to change the struts (re-use springs and assemble strut assy) and alignment. I don't think this is terribly bad. What do you think?

Many people have good relationships with Dealers. For me, unless it's warranty work, or highly specialized work, I steer clear. The same lower level guy will do this work, as one at a corner Firestone shop. I'd even argue that Firestone will do a better job with alignments, lol.

Sounds reasonable both the labor rate and the time.

Not necessary to go to the dealer for aftermarket upgrades. That being said 2.5 hours for install and alignment sounds about right, and that seems to be the going rate for labor nowadays.
A Garage might be able to do it for less, but if you're used to dealing with that dealer you might as well have them do it.

$400 with alignment is about par for the course.

Every time I’ve been to a Firestone, I’ve seen a sleazy service advisor absolutely hosing a naive customer. Personally I would use the dealer or a local shop.

Sounds fairly reasonable. I paid $350 to a local, highly regarded shop to do front struts (using 5100s and new HDPP springs that I supplied) plus alignment. I did the rears myself in the driveway.

Thats what I plan on doing. Don't have the right equipment to do the fronts. Plus, being a fat old man don't help much either. LOL
