Are extended warranties from Ford worth it?

I have until June 21st to purchase an extended warranty through Ford until it expires. Was recommended to get the premium care plan by my service advisor. I'm already getting the engine replaced after I drive a few hundred more miles due to excessive oil consumption. Just wondering having said that if getting the plan has been worth it for you guys. Assuming the new engine will have fixed this problem, but the main reason I am considering is due to the 10spd and what people have said about it on here. Plan will run be about 4K+. This is a 2019 F-150 XLT 5.0 V8 4x4. Still need to throw it in 4wd haven't done so since I bought it. If the majority of you guys have not encountered problems with the transmission or drivetrain, I'd rather save my money. He told me the plan covers electrical malfunctions as well, which is convincing. Let me know what you guys think! I'll be off tomorrow with time to run down to Ford to purchase if needed. Forgot the details regarding the length of warranty but will ask today. I drive this truck I would say about 7,500 miles per year, as I have another car.

I bought a 7 year warranty on my 2015 since it was the first year for the 2.7LTT. It expired last summer. Never used it once. If it lost money for the seller, they would not be selling it. You would be better off putting that same money in a savings account and leave it in case you have an issue.

DO NOT buy the extended warranty from your dealer, buy from one of the advertisers here and save big money!

Buy the Premium Care ESP from Zeigler or Flood and save a bunch of $$$. It's well worth it. Ive used mine twice now since purchasing last October. CDF drum replaced in trans 3 months after purchasing and this past month, moonroof replaced, phasers replaced, oil pan gasket, and turbo oil line.

I will answer your question this way. IMO you get Ford Parts, Ford Guarantee, Ford Dealer repairs at any Ford dealership, Trained Ford mechanic and most importantly, no squabble pricing. Regarding a third party policy, think the opposite of what I posted as an outcome. JMO.

I think of my Ford ESP as a type of insurance policy to avoid a big hit for replacing something like an engine or transmission. Similar to car insurance which you hope you never use but it’s there if needed. Yes liability is state required but if your truck is paid for you don’t have to buy collision or comprehensive insurance! However unless you have deep pockets most have insurance. I had ESP on my 2011 F150 and it way more than paid for itself. On my 2017 it’s probably about even now. It was nice when the starter crapped out in my driveway and I’m 12 miles from town. Ford took care of getting the flatbed and paid to take it to my Ford dealer. I’ve had it in for back up warning sensor’s repair, replaced a wiring harness and several other repairs. I’m comfortable however taking my truck on a long trip because essentially because I’m covered should something major need repair. Also get a free rental and several other benefits. Bottom line I think it depends on your risk tolerance and ability to absorb a big hit for a major repair out of warranty. I can handle the ESP cost pretty easy but a 5 or 6 grand repair bill would be a real ball buster for me.
