From the FAQ section in my tutorial...

1. Will using FORScan void my warranty? No, according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act the dealership would need to prove that any change you made with FORScan directly caused the warrantied part to fail.

Ahh sorry should have hit the first page not the last lol. Yea I have deal with that situation before. Can they tell somethings been done like with the hand held tuners...does it resest some things to zero that raises red flags? I am completely new to this Forscan.

I backed up the bcm before starting and now when I try to load from file I get a error opening file. I can save from forscan but can not load them without getting an error. Is there a way of looking at a file without forscan?

Sometimes the filename you used can screw it p when you try to load it. Change the filename of your original BCM vile to something like BCM.abt. If that doesn't work, you can get your as built BCM values from Ford. The link is: https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

No, you can restore all your modules to stock before any service work and they'd have no idea like they can when the PCM is changed.

^ this. Make sure it's not named like bcm.original.abt cause that's one example that will cause the error when trying to load it.

So am I reading this right...worst case scenario you are doing all of this fooling around in FORScan and changing things and you mess up and loose info. Now your truck doesn't start or some wife infuriating type of situation (got that t-shirt). You can always get the stock files from that link and problem adverted?

Ok...guess i'll keep reading on it then lol.

Sorry if my questions have already been covered someplace in this thread.

There is no substitute for having a backup of your modules in FORScan period. Yes, the Motorcraft site does list most of your truck's modules' as-built values but in the case of BCM, it would take you a while to compare every value of all the addresses to make sure everything was back to stock versus seconds using a backup file. You're not going to screw anything up to the point of the truck not starting; after doing thousands of changes during testing in the various modules, I would've seen it by now if it were possible.
