[QUOTE=Jimmie Moreland;5607296]Woke up to this, this morning....

Do you have Forscan you can check for DTC’s to see what it in and if they are still present. If not still present at that time of read you can clear and watch if they come back. From being so cold, could have started by a com failure or even a low battery during start.

Yes I have Forscan just not sure how to read / use it other than making the adjustments to add features.

If you use a charger, make sure you put the negative lead from the charger anywhere except on the battery terminal.
Why have the negative lead of the charger off the battery? To avoid the current detection loop? Thanks for the clarification.

This is for both the plain heated seats and the heat/cool seats.

Remote Start Climate Operation
Different climate control modes/preferences can be selected when the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. This can be accessed through the message center. For additional information on how to set the remote start preferences, refer to the Owner's Literature. When the driver seat and/or passenger seat is set to AUTO mode, the driver/passenger heated/climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 0° C (32° F) and full cool mode (climate controlled seats only) when outside temperature is greater than 27° C (80° F) any time the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. No heated/climate controlled seat adjustments are recognized during remote start operation. Once the ignition is cycled ON, the heated/climate controlled seat turns off.
The 2018 owners manual on the Ford website also state that the heated seats should be on high when you have AUTO enabled and the Heated seats/wheel turned on in the DIC under remote start settings. Is there any way Forscan can adjust these settings that appear to only be turning the seats on low heat during remote start?

REMOTE START

You can switch this feature on or off and adjust the settings using the information display.
The system adjusts the interior temperature depending on your chosen settings during remote start.
You cannot adjust the climate control setting during remote start operation. When you switch the ignition on, the climate control system returns to the previous settings. You can now make adjustments.
You need to switch on certain vehicle-dependent features, such as:
  • Heated seats.
  • Cooled seats.
  • Heated steering wheel.
  • Heated mirrors.
  • Heated rear window.
Automatic Settings
In hot weather, the system sets to 72°F (22°C). The cooled seats are set to high (if available, and AUTO is on in the information display).
In moderate weather, the system either heats or cools (based on previous settings). The rear defroster, heated mirrors and heated or cooled seats do not turn on.
In cold weather, the system sets to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats are set to high (if available, and AUTO is on in the information display). The heated rear window and heated mirrors turn on.

Mine are on HI when I remote start and get in and start the truck...meaning all 3 lights are lit when I turn the key. It gets hotter once I sit in it for a bit...what im wondering is if we are thinking it should be that hot when we first sit. Maybe it takes you sitting on it to get the heat to transfer through the seat to "feel" like its on the HI warmth setting.

It all has to do with the Battery Management System in these trucks. I have to search and see if I have the document for that, I believe it gives the do and don'ts.

I personally never hook both leads to the battery unless I have no choice, like your charging a battery on the workbench. Just a habit from working around batteries most of my life.

That's what all this is about, whether you can or can not do that. Its an undiscovered setting if there is a setting for it.

When you remote start and when you turn the key are two different things unless you have your setting set to the last used in your IPC.
I do wonder if there is a difference between plain heated seats versus heated/cooled seats though since they are controlled different.

I have it set to auto. What I was getting at is when on auto its supposed to be set to HI...and when you get in the car after its been on and you turn the key the seats are on and set to HI. But people are saying it doesnt feel like its being set to HI when remote started. I was saying maybe it is but since no one is sitting (compressing) in the seat that the heat is not making it to the surface like it does when you sit in it. So when you sit you are expecting that warmth like you feel when you been sitting for a bit...but its not there...so it must not be on HI when auto started.
