Default Remote-start oddity

I had programmed a new turn signal flash rate today and was happy that it worked. All is good. After packing up my tablet and putting the MX away I went to globally close the windows via the factory fob but instead of pressing and holding the Lock button I mistakenly double-clicked the Lock button. Honk-honk goes the stupid horn (and now the factory alarm is active). For the heck of it I figured maybe double-clicking Lock would disable the alarm so I did that. I got out and was walking to the house when the truck suddenly started by itself. When I bought the truck 7 months ago I had the dealer install command-start but those extra fobs have been sitting in a desk drawer since Spring. So, with the truck running I clicked the Unlock button and got in ... put the key in the ignition and turned it to ON briefly and then back to OFF. As I got out the darned truck again starts up by itself. So I jumped back in and did the key in, ON and OFF thingy again and then I just sat there waiting. Within a few seconds the truck again started by itself. Remote start is one thing, but re-restart is quite another kettle of stinky fish. Remembering my initial goof when I double-clicked Lock when I went to globally close my windows I figured if this all started because of that then maybe it will stop this nonsense so I double-clicked the Lock button TWICE with a brief pause between them ... and waited ... no more restarts. I have little patience for stupidity but c'mon, re-restart ... really? Sounds like something Scooby-Doo would say! I'm just thankful that the truck is behaving now but I will attempt to recreate this nonsense in the morning on my drive into the city. I honked and double-honked enough today to get myself shot. Just thought I'd mention it if someone else steps into this road apple.

This has nothing to do with programming the flash rate - I just mentioned that I had been out in the truck doing it today.

... and little did I know that my factory 3-button fob was capable of remote-starting the truck now. I had been using the actual command-start fobs during the winter. After watching a few YouTube videos it appears that 3 presses of the Lock button will start the truck.

Very interesting; good you figured it out!

Or maybe you inadvertently changed another address by mistake, and discovered "Arctic Mode enable" which keeps the engine running non-stop to prevent freezing

Hey folks - I loaded a 5 Star tune on my truck and now the Auto Start/Stop doesn't work. I understand that for some it's counter-intuitive to want this feature when you have a tune, but I spend a lot of time in traffic and like saving gas when I can.

The spreadsheet shows the following to disable, and my value has a 1 instead of the zero, so I think that means it should be enabled.

Feature Name Module Address Value change
Auto Start/Stop Disable BCM 726-48-02 x0xx xxxx xxxx

Has anyone run into this or know of a fix? If not, I'll ask 5 Star if they can enable it in the tunes they sent.

Thanks!

My guess is 5 star has the auto s/s disabled in the tune. That is how my livernois tune is setup as well (by my request). To your point, they should be able to send you an updated tune to have it re-enabled.

720-09-01 xxx* xxxx xxxx - 1=6 speed, 3=10 speed

I haven't tested this personally but I'm sure someone with a '17 could test easily enough.
Do you know the value to have the gears displayed for a 2016? I recently lost mine and not sure what value was changed.

Thanks

Not so much Arctic Mode since we're in the 90's daily ... mebbe more like Desert Mode and it's trying to self cool!! And exciting it wasn't. I have one of those special tempers that takes very little to get up to speed and this restart nonsense was getting me revved up fast. Leave it to me to do something stupid and laughable. Didn't Red Green say something along that line .... sheesh.

I thought I had that idiotic double-honking nonsense killed a few months back too but the truck was loud'n'proud. Livnitup offered some help on that today but I haven't had the desire to go near the truck - big tough, retired chicken, huh?

Have you tried hitting the "+" on your gear selector? That turns the gear display on or off

Did you try pressing +/- button on gear shift to see if they show? This is a common thing even with no FORScan programming.
