Holy Empty Wheel Well - or largest wheel/tire for towing?
Every time I look at the truck we are hoping to buy, I'm embarrassed at how tiny the wheels look inside the wheel well - especially the back. This is an XLT Sport w/18" wheel and all season tires. My Taco has 33s and our Rubicon has 35s, so these wheels and tires look like something that goes on a go-cart.
We are planning to use this to tow a camper with a GVWR of 6250 and a tongue weight of 600. Short of hooking it up to the camper, loading the bed and tanks, is there any way to know how big of a wheel/tire combo we can upgrade to before changing suspension components/adding a lift or level kit?
Does the larger sidewall of the 275/70 result in a squishy ride? How do you adjust the computer for the 9% tire size difference? I saw somewhere that you can make corrections for the odometer but that doesn't fix the shift points. True? How much does that matter?

You can make corrections for speedometer input which corresponds with your odometer reading.
Fixing shift points? Why? The trans will work the same; it does so also by throttle position and engine rpm.
If you want the shift points you had relative to vehicle speed before installing a larger diameter tire, you'll have to change the axle gearing. There are simple math formulas to determine which gear set to change to, and most are online now.
The Bilsteins are set at the highest level which I believe is 2.1 inches and I have a 3 inch block in the rear which i believe gives me about 1.5 inches above stock.
Just my opinion but I did a 2 and one level and 34 inch tires. its perfect except 275 is too skinny! I look like a ****** jeep. I went bfg ko2 but have 20 inch rims. but you can crank those to 80 pounds but no wiggle anyway towing. as long as you stick e rated youll be fine. and don't worry about a level it changed nothing with ride or steering. I leveled my 350 with 35 and it wandered and steering was loose. the extra clearance is needed in my imo I was tired of the chin spoiler acting as a plow.
