You could swap out the Muffler with a California Turbo style muffler it will sound like you want. and it won't effect the smog crap. My daughter bought our 03 Aviator and she put the turbos on it and it sounds great and that is with a 4.6L motor.

Just a thought.

Just burn out the muffler or put cherry bombs on it in fact burn them out as well. ;-)

The safer way would probably be to cut a hole on the top of the muffler and take out all of the fiberglass then weld it back up.

Thanks for the great, and smart aleck, responds! I think deleting the muffler might be too loud. I think I'll I stop by a local muffler shop and have them swap it out for more free flowing one. Keep the great tips coming!

More fun to drill holes in the muffler

With that being said, what is the best solution to give it that extra oomph?

I've been reading through the forum and a lot of people mentioned about deleting the muffler. Now......if I manage to delete the muffler, how would I go about that process? Do I straight pipe that section? Any welding required? And is it legal?

Others have mentioned about adding a tip. But does tip really enhance the exhaust tone?

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!
Replace muffler with a flowmaster, borla, magnaflow, or gibson. There are many different brands and each brand has it's one different series of mufflers. YouTube is great for finding videos of exhaust clips. Manufacturers websites are good. Our can also cut out the resonator. I for one like JBA exhaust systems for a nice little bump over stock sound. There full stainless steel and priced well. A website like autoanything.com should be able to help you get started.

Feed it a lot of fruits, vegetables, protein, and beans! Those things make my exhaust a lot louder.
