Same problem here with the knocking noise after 8k miles. Primarily when it's closed.

Same problem with my Platinum after about 5000 miles knocking in roof is almost enough to make me think GM. I've purchased 7 new ford trucks over the past 11 years. This may be the last one if Ford doesn't offer a fix real soon!

Wonder if it's the actual seal material not being thick and/or sturdy enough for the panels when the truck twists. I've never had this much noise on a sunroof, and I have one in every vehicle I own....and treat/maintain them often. Hell, I've never even heard a peep from any of my other roofs....ever.

May be that one is steel and one is aluminum. The two metals have different characteristics under different circumstances.

srg963, When I compare the seal material to that in my other vehicles (Toyota Highlander, Lexus GX470) it is clearly less substantial. Those two have never, ever made an ounce of noise nor leaked. I've had my F150 in 5 times for this issue and the last visit was to have a new rear fixed panel installed. Still knocks and the installation looks pretty much to spec. After burning up a lot a braincells on this I'm concluding that it may a combination of several variables that may or may not include the glass panels. The big question is "why does tilting the front panel stop the knocking cold?" Every one seems to conclude that tilting the glass takes the pressure off the rear glass and that eliminates the knocking. But when I look how the rear glass is mounted (6 mounting flanges) it's hard to believe that the front glass is really moving the rear glass around when in the closed position. Maybe it is, but there must be something else in play as well. I'm wondering if the tilt position creates a different dynamic for the worm gear assembly that opens and closes the front glass? Maybe when it's tilted or fully open it takes any slack out of that assembly and when it's closed the slack exists and results in knocking? Who knows. I'm hopeful that Ford is working on this.

I'm going to contact my dealer today and see about getting it in there. I only have 5,500mi on it and bought it as a demo unit with 3,300 already on it.

I have to return my truck for the Adaptive cruise recall so I guess I should have them look at this as well.
Hi guys,

Once you head in, please PM me your VIN, updated mileage, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer info.

Hi dooquie,

I recommend setting up an appointment with your dealer to have this checked out. Please let me know when you do.

Also complained about the sunroof noise that the Tech could not hear first time, had Tech ride with me today and it made the sound within 60 feet of leaving garage. Tech acknowledged noise and said they have to contact engineering. Tech also told me he cleaned sunroof drain when I brought it in the first time and was surprised to hear that was still a problem with water on floor. The issue is when I picked up truck the first time adviser told me they reconnected the sunroof drain. They can't even get their stories straight.
I will post update when I get it back
Got truck back Friday, they said they adjusted and lubed roof. Have not heard any noise but have not driven locally but I'm sure the noise will be back. On the leak they said they could not find any problem, Sunday we had huge rainstorm, Monday carpet was damp and mold smell was back.
SO FRUSTRATING!

Mine goes back in Friday this week, 4th time probably won't be a charm. I know ford can make a moonroof. The edge has had the dual pane since 2007. I had one put 35,000 miles on it, no leak no noise, and I believe it was the first year model too. Also had a 2009 edge with dual pane, put 24,000 miles on it no leaks no noise. 2015 f150, started rattling around 6,000 miles, now have 15k, I've spent more time in the vehicle listening to the roof rattle, headliner rattle and driver side door rattle then having a silent cab. Very frustrating.

Same knocking noise here! If I open it completely open it then close it, the noise goes away for a bit, but it fires back up again.
