Ordered some as well, my truck is going into the dealer for a second time (lets see if they say it's normal again, at this point it's a total farce) tomorrow but if they say the same thing once again, I'm going to just try this as it sounds like damn near the most effective solution to date.

I love my truck but I'm too much of a perfectionist to deal with that incredibly annoying noise, made worse by Washington States **** roads.

Mine is at the dealer again. .. as for the knocking noise... tech rode with me and heard it. Called this afternoon and said it was fixed. ... I will see when I get my truck back ... still have to fix the lumbar/ massage that quit working.. air leak at top of drivers door...replacing rear seat cover to fix armrest sticking out.... audible alert for the collision detection the cuts in and out...chrome that is coming off passenger side mirror. ...rear tailgate that is getting closer to the passenger side as time goes by....I forgot to mention the wrinkle in the drivers seat leather.... and the adaptive cruise recall.... I was told the slow or no relation HVAC is what it is and that the spotty blue tooth connection was jut the way it is....

Food Grade Silicone Results

Hitting that 3-4" section I didn't touch earlier made no difference. I do notice a large decrease in knocking since applied, but the knock is still there over the larger bumps and divots.

I'm going to apply another coat tonight and see if that provides any additional help.

Just wanted to get in on this thread.

I have the same problem. Dealer had the truck for 3 days and told me that Ford says they know it's a problem but don't know how to fix it. So they just kept the truck for 3 days and gave it back to me basically as is.

Took mine in for the knocking from the moon roof, the dealer examined the glass and noticed a defect in the glass and the seal. The glass was moving and causing the knock. The dealer ordered new moon roof panels, glass company installed them and I have not had a knock from the roof since December. It been about 3000km so far, warm and cold weather, not garaged and knock on wood the problem is resolved.

If this is true for all of us with this issue, I believe we are in for a major run-around from ford. .....Which could explain the feet dragging on this.

I can't imagine they're gonna be exactly thrilled buying us all new glass panels. I wish my own dealer was as proactive with this issue as yours was.

Could somebody be so kind as to post pics of where to apply the sealant? My knocking is getting worse and I'm ready to burn my truck to the ground! Lol

Maybe the solution will be to fill in the hole in the roof?

Food Grade Silicone seems to work the best. I always clean the truck before applying anything. Spray a microfiber towel and application sponge in a well ventilated area, and wear protective gloves.

First, move the sunroof to the open position, apply to the front panel front seal.

Second, move the sunroof to the vent position, apply to the rear seal and side seals.

Third, use a member card/credit card/temporary plate/etc. to press a thin microfiber towel (that has some lube on it) into the side seal area towards the front of the panel, the last part on the front panel seal.

Repeat as needed. It hasn't eliminated the knock, but it sure has diminished the frequency.
