Moonroof in 2015 lariat started constantly rattling after driving approx 6k miles. The rattling worsened until it became undrivable. I took it to the dealership and after inspection, the FORD service advisor, while riding in my passenger seat , admitted how awful the rattling was and told me that there was nothing that FORD could do and the truck was not built properly. The FORD service advisor said that the best thing to do to stop the rattling was for me to just put a sock above the panel 😂😭😂😭 i think that the service tech was nice but I don't think I'll be purchasing another FORD.

A large part of the problem with getting it resolved seems like some dealers can't be bothered to give 2 ****s.

Dealer is Bourgeouis motors in Midland Ontario, the defect in the glass was really small but it was enough to cause the noise, photo's sent to FoMoCo and the replacement glass was sent. Dealer used a outside company to install and so far so good.

I'm waiting for the ordered parts by the dealer for my moonroof. Hope it will solve the problem or else..... I'm so upset with this noise.
How's the 2016 F150 any issues? Or maybe the 6.2L Denali.

The knocking noises from my 2015 SCREW moonroof are driving me crazy! Guess I'll drop my two month old $55K truck off at the dealer and see what they say.

I asked this earlier in the thread and got no reply. So far I've seen no posting of the problem existing in a '16

I've had a 2016 Platinum for 200 miles so far. We've had heavy rain & snow. I've had no leaks thus far. As for noise, we have very bumpy roads here in MA. No roof knocking yet.
Keep in mind, my dealer bought back my 2015 Lariat due to noise/alignment issues so I'm very aware of these issues. I'll update the forum when I hit 1000 miles or if I hear noises previously described in this thread. After that, I'll update periodically.
Wish me luck!

I too have the rattle/click/knock coming from the moonroof of '15 F150 Lariat when it is in the closed position. It has grown steadily worse and is now driving me crazy. Taking it to the dealer on Thu 02/11/2016. Any advice on getting the dealer's (and Ford's) attention to make this go more smoothly? I'll certainly mention this thread for starters, just hoping to avoid a run-around. At the same time, asking them to investigate a high-pitch squeak/chirp coming from the rear of the vehicle, which is very annoying when windows (particularly rear slider) are open. Thanks.

Well I may have found a solution. I started today by applying some Armor All to the seals on the moon roof to stop some of the rattling. While I was in the back seat I pushed up on the passenger rear corner of the rear glass, and it duplicated one of the rattles.
I loosened off what appears to be the rear glass mounts with a 8mm socked and pushed up the glass and re-tightened. There are 2 mounting points on each side. It does push up the glass about an 1/8th of an inch from the roof line (see pics of front and rear glass.)
I did check before the adjustment and it looked like the rear glass stuck out a bit. I am 6'8" and it is tough to see from more than 3' away.
I did have what appeared to be 2 rattles. One was what I believe is the glass, and one sounds like it is a cable, or wire rattling above the drivers door. I think this is the grey cable in one of the pics that goes to the retractable shade. (I think) The 3rd pic shows this light grey cable. I could poke this with a long screwdriver and it sounds like the sound that I hear.
If this is the solution, it makes sense as it is only at low speeds, as when at higher speeds it could create a low pressure area above the glass and it would suck the glass up tight against the roof. I am not an Engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
I went for a Car-wash after and could not duplicate either of the rattles. Fingers crossed, I will keep you posted.
