I think the long beds need bigger tires and level to look good.
All today's newer trucks' wheels seem to look small under the bigger bodies.
The long beds even more so.

Isn't 6.5' considered a normal or standard bed, 5.5' short and 8' a long bed? City "folk" are better off with the 5.5'. I have a 6.5' and wish I would have gotten the 8'. I do have a super and not a crew so the 6.5 looks great

I've owned trucks with 5', 5.5', 6', 6.5', 7', and 8' beds. I've never found anything that I couldn't carry in the 5.5' bed that another 1 foot helped. If 5.5' won't do it, then I needed 8'. With the tailgate down I'm just 2-3" shy of 8' of usable bed with what I have. The fold out bed extenders are a huge help. The 5' bed on my Tacoma is a little short mainly because the tailgate is so short. Even with it down I'm only at about 6'.
A huge part of it for me is wheelbase. I don't do any hard core off road driving, but the 145" wheelbase of the 5.5' Screw is already pushing things when I do get in some spots and I need the interior cab space.

My last two F-150s were 5.5' beds, my 19 is 6.5' bed, all crew cabs, I'll never own another 5.5 foot bed again

I got the supercrew cab and 6.5 and i love it. The 5.5 is way to small to be practical for my needs. Yes its longer and parking you have to pull all the way forward, or just find a spot in further away. By the way the turning radius on these trucks sucks.

I have the short bed and for the most part it works for me. Last year I bought two 10' x 3' x 4" maple slabs. They were about an hour from my house so I drove home on the back roads instead of the bigger and faster roads. I was wishing for the longer bed that day. Besides that I haven't needed a longer bed. The supercrew is much more useful for me over the supercab.

For sure the super cab plus 6.5 equals long wheelbase which can be a harder situation in urban areas as mentioned. I’m not certain an 8 foot bed is even available on a super cab. As was also mentioned it also depends on what you use the truck for. My opinion is that most people that do their own repairs and work will need a trailer with a short box. 4 x 8 sheets of building materials are not going in the short one. As for looks a 6.5 box looks great on regular and super crew. On a super cab it looks like you need a CDL and not so sharp on the looks. IMHO
