Oil drain plug location 2018 3.5 Ecoboost
2018 3.5 Ecoboost
Taken from Drivers’ side, aft of front tire.
I can’t find oil drain plug. Removed fiber board cover. Oil pan has a metal foil wrap around sides and looks nothing like anything I’ve seen online.
Any help appreciated. I’ve never even researched an oil change before. Truck has only 13000 miles and first oil change done at dealer since I had a couple of squawks that needed tending to.

Thats the transmission I believe. The drain plug is in front of the sway bar which is seen on the left side of your photo

After March 3rd (or thereabouts) build dates, plastic oil pans/plugs were replaced for metal, so yours was built after that. Be ready to make a royal mess without any special adapter to avoid hot oil to hitting the sway bar. I tried the cutout jug route, but it dislodged, and made an even bigger mess. So tried a moldable funnel, and that finally worked. I just don't trust those flimsy Fumoto valves, so glad that worked. Oh, and glad the transmission doesn't have a drain plug .

Yes, me too! All videos I found had the previous pan and plug. Was stuck looking for the big yellow, plastic plug. Anyway..... Task accomplished. And since it took so long the oil running down my arm was not hot.

I think oil changes are easier on the 3.5 than the 2.7! You don’t have to mess with trying to replace that little o-ring on the cartridge filter!

Having the filter on top of the engine makes everything so much easier and cleaner. The o-ring takes 10 seconds to change. I wish all my cars were that easy.
