This one has me stumped a little. Just got my truck back yesterday after the dealership had it for 2 days to replace the phases, tentioners, etc (I had the awesome timing chain rattle after a cold soak). Truck now runs notably quieter than before.
This morning, however, I noticed a small puddle of oil just behind the front bumper. Stuck my head underneath to find this...
I had already loosened the hose clamp before taking the pic. I ended up removing the 45 degree elbow from the intake tube and intercooler and it was covered in oil. The rubber flex pipe above the elbow had very little oil in it. I am going to pull the intercooler tomorrow and see how much oil is in it and give it a good cleaning. Any suggestions to get all the oil and crap out of it???
Yeah, I wouldn't mess with it and just take it back to the dealer.
This. I would not touch it. Furthermore, if you mess with it, they might say you messed it up. I would show them the pics you posted and some of the puddle on the driveway.
My guess is they didn't bother to clean up any spilled oil after the fix. I would spray it down with some brake cleaner to get rid of the oil. If it comes back then I'll schedule an appointment and take it in.
Finally had a chance to do more digging on this. Called the dealership and it sounds like it was just oil from the removal of all the engine components. I'm fine with that. Still wanted to take a look inside the intercooler so I pulled it out this morning. Maybe half on ounce of liquid came out. I expected more since my truck is 2.5 years old with 40,000 km and our winters in northern Alberta are not nice. Guess I won't need a catch can. 😏😁

Well I am super pissed off!!! Went for a drive, backed into the driveway and came out 30 minutes later to see all the coolant from my truck on the driveway. Ford will be getting a very angry phone call first thing in the morning.
