I've had a lot of vehicles and boats over the years and without a doubt I can say Optimas are the biggest POS I ever had. I had a blue top that didn't last a year.
The best batteries I had are the factory Motorcrafts where I have gotten a minimum of 8 years and some are still in the vehicle when I trade them in after 10 years.
I also had good luck with Dekas in my boat which last about 5-6 years which is great for a marine environment.

I am sure we are in the minority here, but I too have had great success with Motorcraft batteries.

The new 760 & 800 amp batteries in some of the 2015+ F150s are AGM design and at a price point of under $200 should be considered

Curious as to why you think so. Once I found Odyssey for the marine environment (especially dry glass mat for jetski environment) I couldn't imagine using anything else. As far as I know, they are still fantastic batteries!

TIA

OP.....I'm curious why you are even considering replacing the battery already in your 2016?

We tried Optimas in our Medic units at work. Lasted about a year. Our mechanic went back to NAPA house batteries. Much cheaper and seem to last longer.

Walmart and Napa batteries have been the best for me.
My last optima lasted 8 months was all in my boat.
Replaced it with a Napa battery must be 3.5 years ago now and works perfectly still.

Personal experience. They're still manufactured in the US, which is good, but I've had several recently that have failed prematurely. In years past, I never had that issue. Perhaps I got unlucky and got several bad units. Warranty service was also a bit painful... I bought them online (no one sells them locally) which became a challenge.

They do have a wider range of battery sizes and voltages, supporting the marine, generator, etc. world, which is nice.

While I TOTALLY agree that these things are pure monkey junk, this statement is not true...lol
You can recharge one that will not take a charge, you just have to know how. Still junk, but if you have one, and a charger and need to recharge the optima, you MUST trick the charger into seeing a certain voltage before it will try to recharge it. This is done with the use of a fully charged battery connected up to the Optima, and THEN the charger connected to the Optima. This is something I learned in the field as a US Marine out of country...lol it works. The people in the industry know this works but most wont tell you this as selling you a new battery is battery for the bottom line.
Word of advice, just dont buy one...Red, Yellow, or Blue, the overall reliability is the same. For a great site to research and compare batteries I use a site called RemyBattery.com. There re alot of good batteries out there, Optima just isnt one of them any longer. Its just the empty shell of a company that truly only remains by way of name.
