Thanks for the tip 2016BoosredGreyGoose, don't think I'll ever buy another one, but a good tip in case someone else has the same issue.

I've worked in this facility and firmly believe these batteries are probably some of the best in the industry. A large number of these batteries are made right there in the Warrensburg facility. The same manufacturing process that makes the odyssey battery is used in many different military applications as well, like the batteries on our nuclear submarines.

However if you are looking for a new battery for your truck, i too feel like the motorcraft battery is probably the way to go. I bought one for my 85 and it was cheaper than anyone else, and I've had no issues with it. The OEM battery in my 2.7 is also already a AGM battery if you're looking for something non-spill-able.

You can recharge one that will not take a charge, you just have to know how. Still junk, but if you have one, and a charger and need to recharge the optima, you MUST trick the charger into seeing a certain voltage before it will try to recharge it. This is done with the use of a fully charged battery connected up to the Optima, and THEN the charger connected to the Optima. This is something I learned in the field as a US Marine out of country...lol it works. The people in the industry know this works but most wont tell you this as selling you a new battery is battery for the bottom line.
Word of advice, just dont buy one...Red, Yellow, or Blue, the overall reliability is the same. For a great site to research and compare batteries I use a site called RemyBattery.com. There re alot of good batteries out there, Optima just isnt one of them any longer. Its just the empty shell of a company that truly only remains by way of name.
I ran my old American made red top optima completely down 4 or 5 times in the 10 or so years I was using it. It did finally go bad but I had it a long time.

I'm with you. Id say a bad battery is a warranty issue this soon, it's also probably under its full replacement warranty still.

I certainly am not trying to speak for the OP. However I had an aftermarket amp and other components installed in my new XLT and it was recommended that I upgrade the battery to a battery with longer reserve capacity. The stock battery in my XLT was only 610 CCA. I did some research and the 730 CCA Motorcraft battery has a much higher reserve capacity

The cost of upgrading the battery and new larger heat shield was minimal.

I don't believe the DieHard Platinums are being produced anymore, just selling off the remaining stock

I bought my 2016 truck at Ted Britt Ford in Northern Virginia. It came with "Ted Britt For Life" that includes a new battery every 4 years, regardless of whether it is needed or not. Also includes free replacement windshields for life if needed. I'm sure there is some fine print that I didn't read, but for now it feels good. I'm also not naive enough to think any of this is truly "free".
