Default Is this a problem?

I went to verify I have the 9.75 rear to order a gasket and change the rear diff fluid, but saw this. At first I thought it was coming from the sensor on the drivers top, but doesnt seem to be. Looks like its coming from either the axel pipe or the two spots/holes on diff where the pipe is inserted...I wonder if this is fixable and how? Almost out of bumper to bumper and will Ford do anything as its not "dripping"? Thanks for any and all input

thats what I figured. So is this fixable outside of Ford…I just read I think it was on a jeep but same issue and it was said to have it welded around the axel pipe to the diff as it was pressed in and maybe a jack was put on it and popped it out a bit and created the leak. I did have a flat on the tire repaired but I didn’t notice if the truck was jacked up in the bay as the lift was there to use but I can’t say for sure so it is possible I guess…thoughts?

Welding would not be good, unless you're pulling it all apart.

As said above clean really well, see where it's coming from. If not leaking/dripping I'd leave it alone.

Consider it a rust preventative. One of your photos highlights that.

That is a 9.75

Axle tubes are inserted into the diff, then welded to it at the holes in the diff casting, which can be seen in your photos.

Before you go to the cost of taking the innards out of the diff and welding the tube, check that the axle straightness is within spec. If it is, check the welds for cracks. If there are none, clean up the oil, remove the rust where the axle enters the diff housing, and epoxy the junction completely around the axle.

Is that shadow in the last pic? things don't tend to go forward, just backwards.

No, not a shadow in the last pick. I agree back or down but I don't know where its coming from exactly and if its due to heat and or pressure in the diff. If its coming out the top and then when i park it settles around forward and back some how? I need to clean it up and check the welds in the two holes...thank you ^...when I took the pictures I didn't notice and cracks at all but I wasn't looking either. The fluid is 2/3 of the way around from top to front and back. Its just not on the bottom.
