Short Box or Long Box

You may be being sarcastic, and if you are I apologize, but - it's not even close on which one is more popular. Just a random guess, but I would bet it's close to a 10:1 ratio of short bed to long bed. Just from what I see on the road and at dealers.

You can fit a 4X8 sheet of whatever or 8' lumber with the tailgate down with room to spare. In the 5.5' bed, those items will go right to the edge of the gate. Also, it is a lot easier for a front end loader to hit a 6.5' bed with mulch, dirt, stone, whatever.
Yes, the turn radius is a bit wider, but I came from a CC 8' F350, so.....
Towing is a little different due to turning radius, it is easier to back up IMHO.

But those are spread across the 3 cab sizes. Assuming the OP has already decided on a cab size, then there's only 2 options of wheel base per cab size.
Reg cab
6.5ft bed : 122.4
8 ft bed : 141.1
SuperCab
6.5 ft bed : 145
8 ft bed : 163.7
SuperCrew
5.5 ft bed : 145
6.5 ft bed : 156.8
And yes, the different box sizes do change the wheel base. The SuperCab with the 8ft bed is the longest, and probably the only one that would give you trouble in tight parking lots.
If you've already decided on a cab size, then the bed size isn't much of an issue because the wheelbase difference is only about a foot (11-19" difference). That doesn't affect the maneuvering much. BUT, the difference between a Reg Cab 6.5' box and SuperCab 8' box is about 3.5 feet. That will make a bigger difference.

Maneuverability sucks with 157" but as soon as you load the whole bed up it's worth it. Although, I did have the 5.5 bed and it's not too bad.. just pile it high or let it hang out!

I agree I very rarely see a Screw with the 6.5' bed in Texas, but when reading around this forum and looking at others trucks posted on here it seems that a much larger number of the Canadian members have the 6.5' bed.
Maybe Ford sends all of the longer beds to our neighbors to the North?

I'd say it has mostly to do with the fact I seldom see a supercrew around here without a child seat (or two) in the back. People are using them as family cars, in which case the bed is more of a large trunk than for the traditional truck uses...

To me, the 5.5' bed looks horrible... it's actually worse on the 2015+ trucks. It looks dumpy... you've got lots of cab and this little dinky bed. Meh.
I drive my 6.5' bed all over the D/FW MetroMess and have never had a time where I said "damn I wish I had the shorter bed". That said, I spend a fair amount of my life driving big red 40'+ trucks around, so perhaps my opinion is biased.
It's almost funny when I drive my wife's Explorer... I go to back in a space and have to stop and think about how much I'm turning the wheel, lest I smack the vehicle next to me.

To me the screw short box was the only option because that extra foot makes a difference when parking in a garage. That extra foot of bed does nothing for my needs hauling-wise. Usually when camping, I have most of the gear in the cab anyways, mostly to make sure it stays dry because of our random rainstorms out here. Only thing I really need the bed for are coolers and firewood, and sometimes the bikes.
Tons of room for groceries too, and like when I was hauling donations for Ft McMurray when the wildfires destroyed their city:
Maybe the extra foot would have helped here. Over the couple of days I did this I ended up with 5 full truckloads of donations, full bed and cab filled to the roof.
People can be awesome sometimes
