Ford changed the name of their products but I can't change the name of this thread.
Sync Connect / Ford Pass / Lincoln Way / Lincoln Connect are the same thing and can be added to older models.
This post is frequently updated to reflect new information.
There are activation issues for some users which have resulted in locked accounts, proceed with caution. Create a second account not linked with other vehicles or a Ford Employee SSO.
This is the last step, but users experience most of their problems with the in-vehicle activation process.
Original solution:
Complete the activation process through the official android version of Ford Pass v2.19 in the BlueStacks Android emulator.
New solution:
User Crazy8Baller created a web interface for everyone which circumvents the Ford Pass App to communicate directly with Fords servers. After this initial activation the official Ford Pass App will function fine with your non-supported vehicle. This is the easiest and recommended method.
Vehicles with Sync 2 / MFT can be used if the APIM firmware is at least
EM5T-14D205-AD and the vehicle network supports CGEA 1.3.
Ford made hardware changes to 2018 F150's (reference pages 258 - 259) which makes it possible to have Ford Pass without Sync 3, this may apply to some other Ford & Lincoln models.
Other users have since completed this mod and created these sub threads for their specific models:
Personal suggestion:
2015 - 2017 F150 with the 4.2" display require a Sync 3 retrofit. I do not recommend a Sync overhaul if remote start is your only objective. I added Ford Pass to this 300a XLT because I had also dedicated resources retrofit CarPlay.
Hot-spot enabled modules:
The donor VIN is required when setting up the hot-spot contract with AT&T in the USA and Bell Mobility in Canada. You can get the donor VIN by connecting to the hotspot, it should forward to a web portal where the original VIN is pre-populated.
Account creation:
When setting up your Ford Pass account, use your VIN.
Do not use the VIN from the donor vehicle.
Ford Pass Antenna:
Parts should be interchangeable between vehicle models. The main difference in assembly numbers is the mounting bracket.
Optional antenna cable: HL3Z-18812-C (generic Ford part)
HL3Z-19A390-A (Ford-Generic) / HL3T-19K351-AA (F150-Specific as shown in photo):
The bolt acts as a ground.
30mm M6.
Connect one of these to both the purple and brown TCU ports if you want to avoid adding the Shark fin to your roof.
For 2018+ F150's and SuperDuty
Optional Shark Fin LTE Antenna and Y adapter: JL3T-19K351-AA5DST + JL3Z-18812-AC User Ad1medina did it here
Modem (aka TCU):
Located at the back of the cab, behind the rear passenger seat.
Three 30mm M6 bolts hold it in place.
TCU Notes:
TCU PART NUMBERS WHICH START WITH 'F' OR OLDER ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. DO NOT BUY!
TCU PART NUMBERS WHICH START WITH 'K' OR NEWER MAY REQUIRE A FIRMWARE DOWNGRADE.
XXXX-14G087-XX and XXXX-14G229-XX will both show up as 14G087 in diag software and I don't understand why.
TCU's starting with the letters 'G' and 'H' are non-hotspot capable.
TCU's starting with the letters 'J' and 'K' are hotspot capable.
TCU's with both a purple and brown antenna port are the fastest way to identify a hotspot-capable modem.
Purple = TX / RX.
Brown = Secondary RX
(diversity port for enhanced cellular reception)
Wiring: @TXFRDOwner makes and sell harnesses.
Everyone is capable of wiring it themselves without buying a harness though, it's just 4 wires. Be creative!
2016 & 2017 F150 owners can reference connector C2122 which uses Motocraft WPT-977
Play 'Guess Who' with the Motocraft pigtail catalog
TCU wiring diagrams Some TCU's use i-CAN and are not compatible with HS-3.
Verify HS-3 compatibility before pulling a TCU from a salvage vehicle or purchasing from eBay.
Wiring is simple. 22 gauge wires.
Power, ground, HS-3 Hi and HS-3 Low.
While monitoring the TCU PIDs in real time, you'll see current authorization status. Switch these bits from the original settings to zeros to wipe previous authorizations. Let the TCU reboot then set it back to what was there before.
IPC Adds Remote Start menu to instrument cluster:

Ford Pass App:
Create a Ford Pass account and try to add your vehicle through Ford's regular processes.
If you encounter an activation error in the app, go to the top of this post and choose a workaround.
Notes: 1. The vehicle shown in the Ford Pass UI will be correct even if that model year was never supported. This is likely because of SmartLink which was a similar external cloud connected product which Ford canceled immediately after launch and everyone forgot about.
2. The Sync 3 Hotspot menu can only be added to APIM's with 2018 level of firmware and software. I strongly advise DO NOT attempt forcing a firmware update because you'll likely brick the infotainment system. Such faults can be recovered but may induce a nervous breakdown or stroke. Replacement Sync 3 modules aren’t cheap. I outlined forcing firmware updates in another thread here if someone is interested in it at the bench level.
I’m in! I’ll attempt to do this on my 2016 XLT 302A
I'll be working on it, too. I ordered a HJ5T-14G087-UF module off eBay and the antenna wire. I also asked livinitup if he'll check in this thread and hopefully give a little help as well.
I checked my truck and don't have a connector back there so I'll be wiring it all up from scratch.

I ordered almost the same. Mine ends in -UC hopefully that doesn’t matter too much
