I know 2018 they started selling in NA but do you know for sure you have a NA TCU version?
I, much like Jon Snow, know nothing. The VIN appeared to be a 2018 Ecosport Titanium, but I'm not 100% sure it's NA.

What is the VIN? I can look it up and see if I can tell if it's NA.

I still don't know how I feel about this. Most TCU's are all made by the same Motorolla plant in Mexico so I would assume they all use the same LTE bands and region might just dependent on which firmware is loaded. Then again, some Ford TCU's in Europe are slightly different with 3 Farka sockets and made in Germany.

It's possible they have the same GSM modem but you can bet the SIM number is carrier locked to the country. I can't see a Canadian tcu working in the US since ATT won't have that sim number in the system for billing ford

Is there somewhere that shows how to load new firmware on a TCU? I would be happy to give that a whirl.

what specifically isn’t going to work using this TCU? It’s communicating with FORSCAN, and can detect voltage, just isn’t showing key status or signal.

I can because the LTE Kindle E-readers worked the same way. They consume so little data that they were shipped with AT&T global connectivity and no consumer-end data plans. Trucks ship between Canada and the US all the time and yet there is no massive thread of owners with incompatible Sync Connect issues from the dealership. Ford has a contract with AT&T Global which is separate from your regular AT&T. It's what allows us to go on cross boarder road trips without paying roaming fees to remote start our trucks. I already know first hand I can use Sync Connect on my truck while it's in the US.

1. You can use the official UCDSYS program and its transparent blue adapter to flash a TCU. Avoid white transparent and orange UCDS adapters, they are fake Chineseium.

UCDS has a dedicated open public portal to download any calibration file you want.

2. You can also use the 2.4.0 versions of ForScan with an official V2 or V3 ELS27 (found at ELS27.ru). ForScan 2.4.0 is easy to get simply by editing any current ForScan exe download URL to find the version you want.

ForScan 2.4.0 has built in feature when connected online which shows the compatible firmware versions. It's hit and miss, but usually points at the file which you can download from Motocraft or UCDSYS.

3. You can probably use Ford's FRDS or FJDS to flash a TCU with a Bosch VCM 2 or compatible J2534-2 compliant device, but I have no insight on how proceed with official methods because of the astronomical cost barrier.

I was basing my comment on your first post about the FW between US and CA tcu not matching. I get the roaming agreements.

I just learned the the new 2020 vehicles all the F-series’s and explorers and expedition, they all have there TCUs on HS4 can bus, I am working with someone to get a 2020 TCU and see if it would work on HS3 my main goal is to get the extra settings tab, once I get the TCU I will run new wires from APIM and try it, but before I will try to make it work on HS3 to the benefit of all
