Thanks
That pin is hot all the time. No FORSCAN changes needed.

Update for those that have 2018 and newer F150's or likely any Ford vehicle that runs SYNC3 Lite (thats the 4.2" version of SYNC3). In testing a 2019 or newer APIM (Gen4) loaded with the latest software/firmware for a 2020 F150 appears to allow SYNC Connect to function. You don't have to go to the 8" screen if you don't want to. I am getting the prompt to authorize the user on the bench. The 2018 software/firmware would not do that. So if someone with SYNC3 Lite wants to try it with the latest 2020 SYNC3 Lite software/firmware you should be able to do it.

Nice- Can you explain that difference a bit further, apologies it's not clear to me I'm still a bit new to modding the Ford components. I just installed 2020 Sync3 (v3.3) K series components (APIM/ACM/FCIM - non nav) and will be installing a J series hotspot capable TCU. Should I update my 3.3 to v3.4 20021 first?

No, that is not necessary. K series TCU units will not work with older APIM firmware. I believe it has to be the very latest APIM firmware or you have to downgrade the firmware on the TCU to the J series.

If you have a J series TCU and an APIM that is second gen or better, no firmware changes need to be made for the hotspot option to show up.

Some of the threads on this board start resembling some I've read on XDADevelopers. I bet you've waded through a few of those too.

So I just wanted to thank everyone for their help on this forum, especially Chad who lent me his ForScan obd2 cord (I ordered mine on amazon a month ago and it still didn't even ship).

I wanted to share what I did (and I dont know if I got lucky or it's how it is with getting several parts from same wrecked vehicle, but here it is). I had to do minimal programming to get this to work.

I got APIM and 8 inch screen off a 2017 wrecked truck to replace my 4 inch screen. That was a plug and play without making any splices or harnesses.

Then I got the TCU from the same 2017 wrecked vehicle and figured it should be already paired/enabled in APIM, which it was.

I worked everything up and connected it to ForScan. TCU was immediately recognized in ForScan. I programmed BCM and IPC as stated in first post to enable remote start (BCM already had this enabled, which was weird).

I put TCU in factory mode and them back into the same mode it was when I first connected it.

Waited till next day, added my vehicle to FordPass app and voila, I activated it without issues.

Like I said, I don't know if I got lucky or if it was the fact i got APIM and screen and TCU from same vehicle, but everything works fine. Start stop lock unlock GPS oil life etc. Only thing that doesn't work is I believe tire pressure. Maybe it will fill in later, maybe not. We will see.

So thank you all again for your help, input and expertise!

On a different note, if someone can help me with couple of DTCs (apim and fcim i got from a wrecked 2017 f150 came with heated seats and parking sensors, which I don't have and don't know how to disable). Thread is here:

Thank you!
