That kind of tells me that it was lost in an update. I think just for sng I will try to reauthorize and see what happens.

Here are my thoughts on the oil life on the FordPass app. First, go read this post: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-...2/#post6452990
That's how I got my app to show oil life. Here's why I don't believe the oil life is tied to the modem. When I hit the "press to refresh" button on the FordPass "phone" app, it refreshes fuel level, vehicle location, and tire pressure, but not oil life. The oil life only updates after I have connected my iphone to my truck via USB. Sooooo, here's what I think you have to do to get the FordPass app to communicate with your vehicle concerning oil life:
Connect your phone to the truck via USB. If it's an iPhone, go to Settings on the Sync 3 screen and disable CarPlay. (Sorry, I don't have a clue about Android). While you are in Settings, go to Mobile Apps,

then FordPass,

then enable Vehicle Info (it's right below notifications).

I don't remember how long it took mine to populate the oil life, but it wasn't long. Probably one quick drive around the block with your phone connected to Sync, and it should update when the truck is turned off and you walk in to the house.
Hope this helps. It worked for me, YMMV.

Andrew

@cr29 thanks for your input, the issue that I am having isn't that the oil life isn't showing any data "OIL LIFE --", I don't have "OIL LIFE" on the vehicle details on the app.

That feature comes and goes like a rainy day. Somedays it appears on my phone and other days it wont. I have an entirely stock Sync Connect setup. It happens occasionally to a lot of Ford owners.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the really useful insight in this thread. I've read it through and ascertained you've all been hooking it up to HS3 on your vehicles, unfortunately the Mk3/3.5 Focus doesn't have HS3 nor is there a gateway module to upgrade to add it as I note one user did for his Mondeo in Germany - I think the BCU handles the HSCAN and MSCAN for the whole vehicle for the Focus.

The module evidently has a pretty large connector with various unused pins, I was wondering if anyone has sourced a full pinout for the module that may help me to wire a TCU up for 'olden day' HSCAN or even MSCAN, and thus open up this upgrade to the mk3 Focus too?

you don’t need the whole Pins, unless you have a TCU with HS4-CAN and european eCall compability (three FAKRA connectors)
Which bus is used does not decide the TCU, but the firmware you flashed.
For example, I can flash my German HS4 TCU
with US Firmware and after that it works at HS3. The easiest way is to find a similar car and flash TCU to its calibration/firmware.
Maybe EcoSport or Escape.
Can you show a picture of your TCU?

Thanks for the reply, there in lies the problem, the TCU has never been available for the mk3/3.5 Focus, only on the mk4 onwards so there isn't one to base it from unfortunately. When viewing all modules on the Focus mk3.5 using forscan it only shows HS and MS can, there are no modules specified as HS3. I am a little in the dark over whether connecting a HS3 CAN device to the HS can on this vehicle will allow it to work or not.. And from reading this thread I may be treading unknown territory.

The module I've obtained is a KT1T-14G087-EL here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124193895989

In your case, i would downgrade to JL3T firmware and try to connect to HS can.
Or just connect to HS without downgrade. Try and error could be the only way.
With luck, it pops up in FORScan.
May be worth a try 😅

That's what I'm wondering! Maybe it detects the type of hscan available and connects to whatever is available.. APIMs appear to do something similar as even brand new ones are compatible with older vehicles such as the Focus.

If anyone on the board has an Escape with a TCU fitted, do drop me a line as from my understanding they share similar architecture with the Focus...
