Does that sound about right?
it might not quite be so plug and play,
some trucks do have a harness behind the rear seat ready for the tcu, others don't, and I think your 19 would be some of those that don't.
so you would need the tcu harness, and also antenae(s) harness(es),
then the forscan work also,
it's more time than trouble,
you can do it,

Boosted Grey Goose is a good source for the tcu harness,
and the rest is on ebay, or google, or?
I have to ask though, have you read this thread's 1st post? a couple times? and the couple of following pages ?
it's all covered there.

so you do have the tcu harness behind the seat?

Nope. You are absolutely right. I just looked and there’s no harness. This project may have to wait. I’d have to buy a harness, TCU, antennas and a cord to connect ForScan for this.

If you are capable of wiring on a harbour freight fog light you can easily wire in the TCU. It is just 4 wires and requires little to no pre considerations. Getting the TCU to magically start working is the real challenge. Also, are you adding Sync 3 to your XL or are you going to try to get it to work with the 4.2" screen? The costs can run away quickly and I'm not sure that most XL owners would get their value's worth out of this mod. The more you are willing to do yourself the more cost efficient the project will be.

No sir, I have Sync 3.3 with an 8 inch screen. And you’re right. I know with some time I could do it but right now, it’s the cost. I’m looking at the very least having to buy a cord for the ForScan hookup and that alone is at least $70 (for a good one).

ForScan is an extremely useful tool everyone should have regardless of the immediate reason for purchase. In the future it can help you diagnose and reset nearly any fault and that $70 investment for the OBD 2 cable should just be considered part of Ford ownership, like insurance or fuel because it will serve you well throughout the duration of your ownership.

It sounds to me like you have a good conservative budget. this mod doesnt have to break your bank and in your case since you have Sync 3 already I say go for it.

If you take the time to skim through this entire thread you will stumble across more than one post where I openly criticize good people on here for waisting (what I consider) an absurd amount of money on this but I promised to leave that topic alone.

If you are resourceful and good at bartering with salvage yards you can easily manage this mod. I've posted all of my tips throughout this thread enough times already.

If you decide to shop online for either a TCU or a wiring harness that will be ( In my opinion) I giant costly mistake. My tip on tracking down TCUs is to search salvage yards for 2017 Ford glove boxes because that will generate a laundry list of every likely Ford vehicle in your area you can go check out.

Anyone who does this mod needs to consider that if they search for a proper part number what are the chances that a salavge yard knows what it is, how to find it or how to catalogue it. There are hundreds of them laying around if you just go look for them.

Trying to source a part number through ebay is a joke. I paid $60 CAD / $42 USD for a TCU if that gives you a better idea of how to barter for these things. The salvage yard I went to could only tell it was a rear trunk module based on how it was in their system.

Other TCUs at other salvage yards I have been to mis catalogued them as TPMS receivers.

My point is, a little DYI really goes a long way.

Default SIM card?

Seems to be a hardware issue, TCU doesn't seem to see any sim which is inserted into the slot. Any ideas how I can debug it?

Thanks.
Hi there, which country is it? And there do you use SIM card in the TCU? Great to know how you set it up and made it work.

Thank you,
RJ

So the screenshot shows factory mode, and all those zeros,
are you able to program out of factory, say to , authorized, or waiting?

and about the zeros,
are the antennae connected ?
picture of your tcu with cables and antennae cords attached?

are there trouble codes for the tcu?
clear them ?

model # of tcu,
and what your fitting it to,
and sync version?

Default New APIM with embedded Fordpass Connect modem?

Anyone know if there is a new APIM hardware model which is having the Fordpass Connect modem embedded?

I am seeing Ford vehicles with FordPass Connect features but without the TCU in them... So thinking if there is something new. Thoughts/Guidance?

Thanks, RJ
