I recently lost my start/lock/unlock functions and vehicle info on the app, running Android 10 on a Samsung Note 10+ and have a retrofitted 2016 XLT without hotspot. Not sure when it happened as I don't use it all that often, but just realized it was broken a few days ago.
I tried to reactivate via the app and it just said it couldn't communicate with the vehicle. I had a few minutes today in the truck while waiting for my daughter so I uninstalled the app, master reset SYNC 3, reinstalled the app and then logged back in. It asked to activate the vehicle which I did and almost immediately got the pop-up on Sync. I confirmed that and got a notification on my phone that it had been authorized but the functions were all still broken and missing.
Just got home and checked again, still no luck. I checked the app version and it was 3.13.1, so I found an older APK for 3.10.0 and sideloaded it. Logged in and my truck was already there and functionality was back. I haven't had scheduled starts for a long time (have no use for them as I work from home) but I do have oil life.
Long story short, it definitely looks to be a problem with an app update and not Ford locking out users that shouldn't really have it.

Yeah I know iTunes is different now I think they were actually doing away with iTunes and the newer Mac computers doesn’t even have iTunes I think. But there is still a way to back up apps even without iTunes I’m just not real familiar with that I seen it on the Internet one time LOL

If you use google assistant you can setup a routine to be able to start, unlock or lock your truck even with the messed up app. It looks like the app still works even when it doesn't show the buttons. I setup those routines in google home to be able to send a voice command through Google assistant to complete any of those routines. You can also send that command to a shortcut on your phone so that you just push that button and it will complete the routine. Simply setup a routine with "Ask fordpass to lock my vehicle with pin ****". Replace lock with unlock or start and just add your pin number. This should work till they fix the app.
