Ford Pass had been working great every since this mod was available but recently I get the same as TXFRD Is getting. I had removed vehicle from app, Uninstalled/reinstalled app, & master reset sync3 multiple times now. The prompt to allow access will pop up on my sync3 with in seconds & retrieve all the data but my app will still say "Activate". When I try to activate yet again I get "trouble connecting" I am running android 11, Ford Pass 3.14.0, not sure about what version my sync3 is at.
So I’m gonna attempt to do this mod in my 18 XLT super duty gas burner. I’m trying to figure out how difficult it will be before I start buying parts. I did the sync 3 upgrade already. Anyone done this with my scenario? Also, I was looking behind the glove box for the test port I saw mentioned, and I actually did find a blank plug with 4 wires going into it but it didn’t look like the plug mentioned. Any insight? Thank you!
EDIT: added pictures of the only 2 plugs I found behind my rear seat.
The plug you found under your dash looks like the jumper that goes to the centre console shift harness. The two plugs you found behind your rear seat are for the power sliding rear window. To connect the TCU to your truck you need 4 pieces of wire, an OBD tool capable of writing data to modules and excellent troubleshooting intuition. The 2017 300a XLT I installed Sync Connect into in post 1 did not originally come with Sync either.
What you really need to do is consider what use you'll get out of it. If you buy all the parts and do everything correctly chances are high it won't work anyway because as of Ford Pass app version 3.14.0 the mobile app is fundamentally broken. The only exception is if you plan to start your vehicle with Alexa, Siri Shortcuts or an older version of the app on android.
I advise you should wait a few months and see if the Ford Pass app problems get resolved before spending a dime on this mod.

Again, for anyone running an Android phone, just sideload version 3.12.0 and disable automatic updates.

Great, I'm sitting on all the parts. Does it start with the alexa app, or just dots and echos?
iphone 11 with latest ios and latest ford pass app. All works well with my Ford Edge that I added SYNC Connect to. I do have a legit vehicle on it too however.
The app on my iPhone didn’t work wouldn’t show activate button. But I pulled my old android out and downloaded FordPass and instantly activated and buttons showed up. Works perfect
