So here is where I am at...for what it is worth. I was able to purchase the TCU locally from another user who already added it to his F150, and it was working. He provided me with the TCU, harness from BBG, and all of the necessary antennas and cables. Install was smooth, until I found out the BGG harness was only for the Sony sub in the back. @TXFRDOwner to the rescue! He saved me a ton of time and made me a harness that went all the way up to the Gateway Module behind the OBDII port, shipped the day after I paid him. I was able to get my truck to this point....I have the AT& T hotspot working! As with others, I am struggling with the activation in the FordPass app to get the Connect features working. Here is where I stand:
1. The TCU clearly "phoned home", because I get the option to activate my truck in the app. However, I keep getting the following message when I tap on it:
When I look in Forscan at the PIDs, here is how the TCU is showing up:
Here is the TCU data I am using:
I tried the sequence @VTPLM above, and did the APIM reset from the touch screen. I used the 754-01-01 xx00 xxxx xxxx instead of the above because my configuration was different. Would there be a different way to put it in factory mode with this configuration type? Still getting the same error as above after removing and adding. My impression is a lot of users are not seeing the activate button to begin with, but not sure if this is a common issue, too. I am excited to have the hotspot working for my radar detector and other devices, but would love to get the app working, too!
while you're showing the "wait for Authorize",
try deleting the truck,
and then the app from the phone also,
restart the phone,
reload the app,
reload the truck,
did you get the TCU to set back to Factory mode ?
year of your truck,
sync version,
and TCU part # and stategy #,
??
some tcu's are ahead of, or behind, the truck / APIM year and version

Juste be careful in 2016 there two different model of apim the one who's start whith G and the one who's start with the H in the late production like mine there are a difference juste make sure you got the right architecture and type of APIM
FYI I think sync 3.4 update to 21194 killed my remote start. I can use fordpass to lock and unlock but it will not start. The app spins circles and then tells me the vehicle failed to start.

I've been stuck with the same problem since 2020 on a family member's F150. I just moved across the country though and now have the availability and accessibility to hit the TCU with a hammer to see what will happen.

There is 3.4 21265 if you want to install it yourself and not wait for Ford.

If you have an android phone or access to an android phone download an old version of the app and you will be able to activate it. I just had this issue with mine but I had an old android phone in the drawer. I went to APK mirror, found a version from late 2019 and downloaded it. After launching the older app it kept prompting me to update it however you can just ignore it. Go through the process as normal and you should be all set. After the initial activation I’ve actually been able to reactivate on my iPhone because I had to do a master reset.

Holy ****! Worked perfectly, I got the prompt almost instantly. I d/l version 2.20.0, skipped the upgrade prompts and bam. Many thanks
