Can you clarify the original TCU part number versus the firmware part number you flashed? According to a bunch of posts in this thread, it is in fact the K-series TCUs that use HS4 and that downgrading the strategy to "J" level is what re-enables HS3/I-CAN.

For the record, I had a K TCU (downgraded to J) "working" in my 2017 USA C-Max, which I believe is the same C1MCA electrical architecture as your 2012. The ESN showed up in Sync, Forscan could see the module (and I could flash firmware and change the as-built). But FordPass only partially worked. I could remote lock/unlock but remote start and horn/lights buttons didn't work. There was a button to view tire pressures but they all showed as 0. But things like fuel level, battery level (my C-Max is a PHEV) oil life and location were working fine.

One difference with my C-Max vs yours is that mine came with a 3G TCU from the factory, so I already had a properly-wired connector for the TCU in the rear cargo area (sorry I don't know the pinout). So maybe there is some merit to the idea of connecting different pins to see if it can be seen by Forscan.

Mine has this p/n JX7T-14G229-DJ and it came from an English Ford Focus mk4,i have updated it with Escape mk2 TCU software as explained here(use google translator)
https://www.drive2.ru/l/603141227658873251/
The method is the same for the Kuga mk2 and the Focus mk3 witch share same architecture.

Ah ok. So you flashed JL3T-14G139-CR. This is the same strategy that can be applied to K TCUs to re-enable HS3/I-CAN. I didn't know that JX7T was HS4-only like the K-series. Actually, re-reading the post on drive2.ru, it sounds like maybe the difference between JX7T and JL3T is I-CAN, not HS4CAN? I believe all of the C1MCA cars (Focus mk3, Escape/Kuga, C-Max) use the I-CAN bus, but just guessing.

Anyway, hope you can get it working in your C-Max.

The JL3T and KT1T TCUs are supposed to have the FANW suffix (assume the W is for WiFi). Also the H-series TCUs say "TCU-B1" for CERT MODEL, whereas the J and Ks say "TCU-B2".

This one does have the second antenna connector, but the label doesn't match every other J and K TCU I've seen.

there are a couple of variations to them for ican vs hs3/4 if I’m remembering correctly.

To my surprise almost everything in my truck worked with no issues (only like 2 dtc's). Plugged in forscan but it did not show an hs4 network on the list like it isnt told to even look for it. Similar to when this mod first started forscan didnt even look for a tcu on a 15 or 16 f150

Did you ever get this to show up? I have a 2019 Super Duty, with the factory harness behind the back seat. I got a K-Series TCU and plugged it in, but it will not show up on forscan. I’ve verified it is getting power to that factory plug.

Hello, I am trying to find the wiring locations for the HS3 can bus positive and negative. Ive been looking through this forum for hours. I have my TCU all programed and working with my app. I have somewhat of a clue to get the power and ground, but for the life of me cannot find a wiring diagram that makes sense. If anyone could DM me some pictures of where you wired into the HS3 Can bus that would be awesome. i have a 2016 f150 Lariat
