I think you're wrong about the B for sync 3 / 2,
I'm a sync 2 truck with TCU added and operational, on B132, in north america,

I agree with other poster saying the 132 is for NA, and you need different code there for Europe, etc

The 3G modems were a completely different device from a different manufacturer. They probably had the ability to roam. As far as I know the 4G modems cannot roam. You need a TCU from your region.

You can try the as-built change but don't expect any miracle.

Roaming is very expensive, so probably Ford learned that it was cheaper to make specific TCU models for each region containing an embedded SIM for a local carrier.

You should be able to find a J or K TCU for the European market without too much trouble. An easy visual way to identify them is that they feature a third FAKRA antenna connector (colored blue) EDIT: I guess only some of them have the 3rd antenna connector, so disregard this. See this pic (posted earlier in this thread from someone, I can't remember who). You need one that says "Cert Model: TCU-E2"

Edit: Ah, it is because of different 4G/LTE frequencies between North America and Europe. There is some discussion about it here: https://www.drive2.com/l/619585523563910210/ and https://ffclub.ru/topic/444016/jump_90/

Ok, ill look for one of those, by the way is it matter from which country in europe ill get the TCU or they are all the same, any idea? And you are sure the Jxxx version will work flawless on my sync2?

I am not 100% sure of anything, because I live in the USA and have not actually tried to do this in any other country. I am just telling you information I have read elsewhere. Please refer to the links I added to my previous message--maybe you can post there to ask those people for advice since they seem to have some experience with the TCU-E2.

The two biggest factors in getting the TCU to work are:
1. What "language" it speaks, in terms of the CAN bus. I believe you need one that works on the HS3CAN bus, meaning you will need a J model, or perhaps a K that has been downflashed to J firmware
2. What LTE bands it works on. I believe the TCU-E2 model communicates on bands 3, 7 8. What country are you in? If it uses LTE bands 3, 7 and 8 (which I think all countries in Europe & CIS do) then the modem should be able to communicate with Ford.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Right now im in Bulgaria but i travel alot, just get back from the states, was there for 4 months, anyway something doesnt add up here for me, im just curious about the location in the app, lets say i have european ford/lincoln with 4g tcu and it all goes well with the location in europe, how about i go live lets say in USA or any other country out of europe and ship my car there, will i still get location of my car in the app since i have european tcu or i have to go trough swapping the tcu again, it doesnt make sense to me 🤔

I don't know if the E2 TCU can work anywhere outside of Europe--maybe it works in any country that uses LTE bands 3, 7 and 8. The cellular networks in North America use bands 2, 4, 5 and 17, so unless the TCU-E2 can communicate on those bands then it will not work in the USA.

But I do know that the TCU-B2 (the USA model) cannot communicate on bands 3, 7 or 8 (you can see for yourself here in the FCC filing), so that is the first and biggest reason it will not work in Europe (there might be other reasons too--like an eSIM that will not allow roaming in Europe).

I don't think Ford guarantees worldwide access to your vehicle location. It's meant to work on the continent on which the car was originally delivered. If you ship it to another country there may be aspects that do not work properly or need retrofitting. I think Ford considers the TCU that way, as FordPass is an "extra" service that is not required to operate the vehicle.

But this is just my own hunch as I do not work for Ford nor have I any insider knowledge.

Guys, has anyone come across kn15 - 14g229 - al modems, will they communicate with servers? Sink modem sees and defines, but authorization does not pass.
