I don't know what year Ford started offering Sync Connect, some of the cars had it before the trucks.

I would say yes to the newer the better unless someone can come up with a year they produced them. Mine was from a 2018 Explorer

Spring 2016 is when they announced Sync Connect, 2017 Escape was equipped with it. Fusion was next. I went looking at parts for the 2017 Escape, the part starts with a H.

2018 Ford Escape, Expedition, F150 and Navigator TCU part number is JL3Z-19K350-CA. This seems to be the current model.
2017 Escape had this one HJ5Z-19K350-UH, latest model listed. They both have the call out number of 14G229
2018 Explorer JB5Z-14G229-AF

so is that the label on the outside of the plastic tcu box ?
or is this what forscan finds inside ?

shouldn't they be, or are they, the same # ?
