It wont be a problem for you now but I have no doubt in a year or two it will be a problem. Ford has been terrible at Sync updates for many many years. It is the reason why threads just like this one exist. The real fun is that Ford is also terrible at getting Sync updates to dealers which means that in the future you can expect to be reading a thread very similar to this but regarding different versions or parts.

Well that sucks. My only saving grace is that in two years, i will probably start getting the itch for a 2022, so hopefully i get the latest and greatest at that point in time.

Thanks for opening my eyes to this though. I know a month or two ago, I was driving on a 2 year old section of our city’s ring road, and the nav map showed an open green field. Now i know why, which truly sucks.

Just figured something out and wanted to put it here in case anyone else has run into it. I upgraded to 3.4 and went great 28 mins and done. Soo worth it. One thing I noticed right away was that the presets buttons was missing. So lets say you have 3 sets for presets fm you would hit the preset button to toggle between 1-5 , 6-10- and 11-15. Well with syn 3.4 that button is gone. So you now switch between the presets by sliding the presets left to right. I panicked and thought that i had to scroll through with the wheel fm, satellite , phone am etc to get back to preset 1 like an 8 track. All fixed. Thank to airborne ape for posting this, went smoothly and worth it

For the life of me, I cannot update from 19274 to the new 20021 build. I've tried two USB drives now and it sits on "Updating Software" for 45 to 60 minutes and does nothing. Any thoughts?

Did you run the "downgrade" first?? If I'm reading the flowchart right.. You can't go from 19274 to 20021. You have to downgrade first.

That is actually very strange, you should be able to update it

Straight upgrade is possible as long as new maps are not needed. It is not possible without downgrade if maps 1.19 is desired.

I believe you need to downgrade to 19200 first. Anything above that removed the ability to format. (AA will correct my terminology if I'm wrong)

I was on 19274 and installed the first file to down grade...then installed the second File to get to 3.4 20021 with 19 maps.

Took the plunge and went to 20021 last night, but unfortunately, even though I have the updated hub I am getting the USB hub error.

Can I go back to 19274 and keep the 19 maps? Whats the easiest process for doing that?
