Upgrade Sync 3 V3.0 to V3.4 instructions

No you are not. As the apps file is larger for 3.4 then 3.3, there are a few different things you can try.
1. Downgrade to 3.3. Just the apps file as your not staying there so you don't need the matching voice file. After its done, then you can install the 3.4 20196 apps and matching voice file. I keep sharing and unsharing the 3.3 files. I should just share and keep the link active.
2. Remove gracenotes. There is a tool that will remove gracenotes which will free up room to install the new updated files. I have the tool and can post it, I'm on mobile right now and need access to a computer to share the files and then share the link. Same goes for #1 above.
I can share the files but it will be a few hours unless someone else has them and can share them for you until I'm able to.

Count me in as another happy customer of AAs knowledge! I have a 2013 FX4 that I converted from SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 v.3.0 over a year ago. Read through this entire thread with the curiosity to upgrade to 3.4. Copied folder2 in post 1, swapped out two files to end up with build 19274 and then hoped for the best. Much nicer than 3.0. So far so good. Only hold over problem still there is being unable to voice tune channels within the same source.

However, when I try to run the installer for 3.4 20196 I always end up at Installation Failed - MEM_ERR03.
Would running a master reset first help anything? Not sure if that frees up any space.
My USB drive for 20196 contains:
5U5T-14G381-EB.TAR.GZ

Autoinstall.lst contains:
[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]

I was able to downgrade to 3.3 successfully, and restarted, all seems to be well. Next I went and ran the tool to remove Gracenotes, which appears to have also been successful.
However, when I try to run the installer for 3.4 20196 I always end up at Installation Failed - MEM_ERR03.
Would running a master reset first help anything? Not sure if that frees up any space.

Looks like you took the wrong app file, Sync 3.4 build 20196 is 5U5T-14G381-EG, not 5U5T-14G381-EB (wich seems to be 20136), but it shouldnt be a problem for installation. Your error relates to something different. I remember it was discussed a while ago in this thread, try to search this particular error

I swear, the truck asked me yesterday if I wanted an update, and now something changed? Via wifi? I’ve not been following the thread, but did it domthis update on its own? The damn thing looks different....

I think reformat was blacklisted starting 19274, so you have to downgrade at least to 19200 to be able to run that tool. If you are on 3.3 now though you should have no problem reformatting
