My 2020 is currently on 20282 with 1.19 maps. I’ll try the update tomorrow.
Ford may give you the 2.20 maps for free. I wouldn't go the the hassle of downgrading and then installing 2.20 until you find out if Ford gives you the free upgrade.

This thread is mainly for people that are going from 3.0 to 3.4. There is a process called reformatting. Some 2020 model year vehicles have had a problem where after reformatting, the display goes dark and doesn't come back. It is theorized that this is due to a display driver in the reformat tool that is not compatible with the newer displays. This is only 2020 model year and not on 2019 or older vehicles.
If you have a 2019 or 2020 vehicle, you came with 3.4 and 1.18 or 1.19 maps. You should see them free once Ford "officially" releases the 2.20 maps. There is no reason why you can't update to the newest 3.4 21020 version, voice file and the Nav voice files. Just reformatting could cause an issue where you have to have the display replaced under warranty. If you get the maps free from Ford, go that route and wait a little while longer.
It shouldn't matter if you already have that version of Gracenotes. It will just overwrite it. Do you think you can send me a pic of the actual error message?
It's been a long day... I forgot.. can you tell me how far it gets before it throws the error?? Does it start the "format" process. It should say something like.. Applying Maps... or something like that. I can't remember what the actual screen says. You should be able to tell because it looks completely "basic" and nothing like Sync3 when it is loading.
The format screen should look something similar to this (with graphics changing every so often)
as soon as I install the usb it says installing updates..then goes to error 05 ...I will post a pic tomorrow when I get to work..thanks for the help..

A straight update is one thing , but a reformat and reinstall is something completely different. Are you sure you ran the reformat process on your 2020? Just don’t want you to run the update and brick your display.
