It's been awhile since my last post and mod. Was suffering from "F150 Money Pit Burnout". Just added a couple days ago the raised letters/numbers on the tailgate stamping.
Welcome back @ManMountainDean wondered what happened to ya. Truck is looking great.
Tried several different led bulbs from Amazon after the DD lights died, this is by far the closest you will get to the LED bulbs that come from the factory in the SDs
On that 303, I have Clazzio synthetic covers in my truck. The cover material is really grippy which is nice except when it comes time to get out of the truck. I have lift my butt off the seat when exiting because my pants don't really slide off the cushion when exiting. I feel like the material will start to wear thru and possibly even tear if I don't lift myself when exiting. Well, I wiped down the seats after spraying the 303 on my microfiber and man, the seat covers are slick as heck now. Now I can slide right off the seat when I'm getting out of the truck. LOL
Has any one changed out the back-up bulbs to LED? I got a set of ZEVO 3156 bulbs to do just that while I was in there. Manual says use 3156K bulbs, Sylvania web-site says use 3156 bulbs, but they do NOT fit my sockets! The bulbs factory installed are Toshiba W21W Bulbs. They are a full glass bulb with no plug-in piece, and are thicker that my new LED bulbs. They are NOT gonna stay in there! Any thoughts on why my factory bulbs don't match up with my manual
Wired up my Gentex Homelink mirror today- was being lazy on that lol. don't know why, it was very easy...
I picked up the mirror off ebay- came from a 2011 Hyundai. Gentex 453 mirrors are used in tons of import cars so it is an easy way to buy one cheap - avg price is about $40 shipped. I got mine for $32 shipped. Make sure you get one with the plug pigtail, you will need it. If you buy a "retail" Gentex 453 you'll pay $100+. The one I got has the hidden compass up in the right corner. it can be shut off if you never want to see it. Mirror has auto dim, undim on reverse, same as the stock mirror. i did lose my left hand mirror auto dim by doing this but i do not care at all. my tint takes care of that. So now I just need to program the homelink buttons for my garage doors and gate- done. sorry for the bad pics it was hard to get a good shot with the bright light behind it. The wedge shoe mount on these mirrors are universal across all cars that use a wedge type mount. on my F150, loosen the T20 torx and OE mirror slides off the window shoe. Then slide the Gentex mirror on shoe and tighten the T20. done.
.... Gentex 453 homelink mirror installed on 2018 Ford F-150 SuperCrew .........
..... ..... Ford F-150 rear view mirror wiring diagram- blue-brown is 12 key ignition hot, green is reverse signal to mirror, black/yellow is ground. Wire the blue/brown 12v to both the red and brown wires together on the Gentex. Hyundai Gentex 453 mirror - Red is 12v batt, brown is 12v key, white is reverse signal input, black is ground. tie the red and brown together and connect to the blue/brown 12v wire on truck side. ........
great job. any error codes after this? any side effect other than loss of the driver mirror dim? is the connector exactly the same?
Went to start her up this morning ... running boards didn't come out, inside lights were out, the EcoBeast just ticked on me. Time for a new battery ...
Finally came across a decently priced console that was local to me. $400 at a nearby yard and it was mine. They included all the trim pieces as well. However, I wasn't able to get the vent/dash trim pieces so I cut mine with a dremel for now.
Console installed. Took me about 2 hours total.
You can see how I cut the vent pieces for now until I can source a decently priced set. It works though!

That looks great! Good job with the dremel, I'd never be able to do that.
