I finally got around to installing my KC hood lights. Not sure why I "felt" hood lights are necessary, but I did. Found the V1 Cyclones on eBay for a good price direct from KC, so that may have helped motivate the impulse. Took about 1 hour to install. Biggest issue was cold hands and the tighter then a nat's *** wire loom.
These have motivated me to get more Cyclones to use "rock lights" and add "bed lights" to my Diamondback cover. The V2 has a recess mount which would be slick for the Diamondback. Hopefully next week I'll have time wash and detail and install the list of parts I've collected, but we will see.
I have a nice portable light that easily moves from vehicle to vehicle.
It plugs into 110v but only draws 25 watts, so you can use it on the side of the road if needed by plugging it into the dash receptacle. They also make a batt. operated LED one, mine is 12-15 yrs. old now.
That does remind me actually, i really need to look at one of those work lights to attach to the hood like that, not looking to spend too much, but they normally fit inside between two open doors as well.
Woke to a depleted battery...
Thinking the cold temperatures finally got it .
Update ;
Ford Pass Rewards : came threw for me ... new battery , 3 year warranty and no out of pocket cost

This is the one I have and I love it. I use for detailing interiors mainly, but have used it under the hood also. Pricey but it's definitely nice!
For sure, i'm still in shock over the prices the decent ones of these command, i mean, it can't seriously be right?!
Honestly? i only need a plug-in one, i don't need to pay the premium for the battery version.

I initially got it to add light to the bed, but I only had an hour it was more work then I wanted tackle at the moment. I used work on my old truck all the time and hated having to drag the shop light around in the engine bay. I wanted something like this back in the day, but LED's weren't a thing.
In reality it was a frivolous spend, but I accomplished something. Milwaukee and DeWalt have hood lights that are around $40 more then I paid for this kit. Probably would have been a wiser choice, but dang it I wanted to be cool for Instagram . Now I have KC Hi Lites in the hood for all the times I'm never under the hood!
I will say that the CRI and color temperature are spot on for these small lights.
