Looks Great Doug! About to work on my amp rack as well!
thank you .. did you do custom amp rack or order one? I had the small MTI before and went with their biggest one .. I also had a 4ch for my tweets .. 4” and doors .. I figured since I’m doing a overhaul to just get a 6 ch
Nice long eyes, always have a small set in the console, as a first responder its always a good idea to see the hazard tags on a trailer from a distance with MVA's on the Interstate, especially if the driver is running in the other direction.
i used the military 7X50R when I was in the army. These are just the 8X30 version without the reticle in them or the ruby laser coating.

I keep these 10x42's in mine. Mostly use them for looking at snow conditions, avalanches and wildlife. My 51 year old eyes aren't as good as they used to be!

I have the MTI and the one from SGS. Neither is big enough. I've going to remove the back carpet and attached a larger sheet of PVC to the MTI one I currently have in. With the seat lift I have that moves the seat forward and up I should be good for these two Sundown Audio amps.
i was wondering the other day how hard it would be to drill and tap a hole for a plug.
Well, you have to remove the cover, anyway, or you'd leave drill shavings. Sheetmetal is a.bit thin to tap. You need a.bolt that seals, which means a shoulder bolt or such. Don't try.
There's a $10-15 retrofit drain I use, I gotta..It's comprised if a hollow bolt, teflon washer, maybe a metal washer for inside(?!?) a nut that goes on the outside, and one for the inside... and the actual drain plug for the hollow bolt.
The two nuts hold the hollow bolt and exterior washer. I Loctite these. You GOTTA REMEMBER, to HOLD the hollow bolt from turning while you loosen the drain, or you could risk loosening the nuts, (and one of them is inside w the gears!)
Guys w a mini welder, drill, then weld a threaded ferrule onto the exterior. V sano. Or mebe $50 gets you a pumpkin WITH a drain.
I see magnetic plugs 18-25$. I found some site w $3 ea and got 3. No idea where. Old dead phone, so no history.
"Ford specs mine for 75W-85."
Akin to an oil thread. 😆
Weights have reasons. 1st number us how the oil acts/flows, cold. 2nd one, hot. In the above case, hot 85 will flow like "cold" 75. These #s help flow when cold but are not made for high stresses of vehicles that carry more than the general 150 generally does, or even can.
If you go up steep hills, quickly, in a low gear with a good load, often, maybe enlarge that 2nd number a bit. If your blacktop in the summer gets VERY hot, maybe the same. These rears can get as hot as a tranny.
There is one patented finned cover that also catches air and us flow-designed. Many/most do not flow oil TO the gears, but merely carry more oil, which is not properly recirculated. The add capacity, but cancel the pumpkin cover's curve. The shape of the cover is the housing, of the gear-oil "pump," and the gears become the delivering impellor. Many atyermarket designs foil the engineered intention of the cover's shape.
I use ~75-140 or 90-140. I don't carry much, but the "fleet economy loss" will not be significant enough for ME to notice. It might quiet old gears. It may leak slower, (though, I have no leaks. 👍
