I have a 2016 F-150 King Ranch 5.0L Supercrew Short bed. I had some work done to the rear end recently, and the shop told me I had a super 8.8. I started doing some research and realized the door sticker doesn't match how my truck was outfitted. According to the sticker my truck has a 3.31 gear ratio and it's an XLT trim. Based on my limited research the super 8.8 is either 3.55 or 3.73. According to what I know so far, my truck has every available option for 2016 minus tow mirrors. It has the max trailering package, FX4 package, 36 gal gas tank, power running boards, power folding mirrors, LED headlights, auto high beams, lane keep assist, touch screen nav, and massaging seats. So ultimately my question is why does the door sticker give me an axle code of L3 for the 3.31 but my truck has a 3.55 or 3.73? Are the rest of the codes wrong too?

I’d bet the door sticker matches and the shop just gave you wrong info.

the 5.0 with 3.31s is a common enough setup.

The door sticker doesn't state the trim level, but it's very unlikely that it's wrong about your axle. Why don't you look at the window sticker?

I don't have the original window sticker. I bought it used 2 years ago.

I read the max trailering package comes with the 3.55?

You can get it online or from a Ford dealer. Anyway, nobody online knows why the shop told you something different than what's on the sticker. I would bet on the sticker being correct. I also kinda doubt you have the max towing package paired with a 3.31 rear end. My truck is set up very similar to yours (even the color) and I have the L3 axle.

I'm not sure why you think the VC Label says you have an XLT.

Paint Codes: H7 H5

• Primary Color H7 = Bronze Fire
• Secondary Color H5 = Caribou (only available as a secondary color on KR)

Interior Code: KJ:

• Interior Trim Code K = Luxury micro-perforated leather, 40/20/40 captains chairs (not an XLT option)
• Interior Trim Color Code J = Java (only available in KR)

Axle Code: L3

• L3 = 3.31 ELD (Optional on KR with 5.0L, included if FX4; Standard is Code-27 3.31 open; 3.55 ELD optional requires FX4 or 53A trailer tow; and 3.73 ELD optional)
