When I saw the header for this thread, I thought it would be mundane ... NOT!

Also, I thought I was pretty prepared ... NOT! I got nuthin' on most of you guys, especially Scienceguyjim, Holy Crap Jim!

Dash:
sunglasses, readers, RX glasses
radar detector

Driver door:
napkins
swiss made multi-tool
Mole book (for maintenance notes)
head light
ear plugs (for noise)
laerdal

Passenger door(front):
her sun glasses
stubby antenna

Console:
dial tire guage
pen pencils
money
aspirin
Old credit card(s)
carabiners
small multi-tools
red plastic cups
bars
FD placard
Forescan cable
Keys (domiciles etc)
Fenix PD25
Wine Opener

Back Seat(floor):
Tool Bag
Sockets, box wrenches, hammer, screwdrivers
allen keys, lock blade, sheet rock knife
water pump pliers(2), standard pliers (2), visegrips,
hacksaw, sheet rock screws, torx bits, feeler gauge
rubber gloves, breaker bar with 21mm socket, stillson wrench
tape measure, drill bits, zip ties, duck tape
electric tape, king pins, hose clamps, nail clipper, measuring caliber

paper towels - bungied behind the head rest.

Back Seat(behind):
slim jim, wood chocks, 10awg copper wire, army blanket

Bed:
Tool Bag
fuses, large carabiners, CAUTION tape
Back Pack
bungies, ratchet straps, zip ties, rope
Large plastic bin
kern mantle rope 50', nylon tow strap, HD jumper cables,
hitch ball mount, buck saw, terry towels

To get:
legit first aid kit
tow shackle
power supply
air pump
army shovel

Upgrade:
I gotta get a better tool bag. Mine's one of those Hdepot cheapos and it weighs a ton! Also, it's totally unorganized. I'd appreciate suggestions. I'm thinking of a carry box with draws for sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers etc. I want something that will sit in the back seat most of the time, but can be removed when I'm doing a project or the truck goes in for service.

Notes:
>I spend a lot of time in northern New Hampshire and Maine. Up there cell service is SPARSE. Last year I met a guy in at a boat launch who locked his keys inside his truck. He was about to break the window! Poor guy. Anyway, I used the slim jim that day.
>More then once, while exploring loggin country I've used the buck saw to clear blowdown.
>I don't "pack" in The People's Rep of NY, but I do in Maine. Usually a 357 in the console.

Tomjv, When I first read "Slim Jim" i thought of meaty snack, not entry tool. LOL.
I need to add a few pieces for entry. I have had a few people need that kind of help and I was not ready for it. I have my eye on a couple of sets.

I think most are carrying a lot of things in their truck but since they don't have a detailed list they don't realize it.
My stuff I carry has been built up over years of having to deal with things when we travel that just added up to a way to make my day easier if I already have it. 2 Little girls and a wife and 2 dogs make getting things done during a breakdown or issue a challenge. So I try to have most things ready. You would be surprised how often most of the items get used. I will also say that some items are used less often and I am thankful for that, but happy I have them.

I have even seen a few things on other people lists that I probably need (ie want) to add to my stuff. You guys are making my wishlist longer.

I totally forgot to have my 4 way hitch (3 ***** and a hook) to my list. It is always attached, so I didn't think to list it.
I have liked the turn this post took. I have seen others that just show the most basic things you should have. first aide and fire extinguisher. But many of us do more and I like to see those bigger load-outs.

It was asked of me and I will say I have sacrificed no space inside my truck. My back floorboard is empty. I still want to fit the family in the truck.

My highest priority now is probably a Decked System. I wish I could have gotten in on the giveaway from way back. I am also unsure if I will be sacraficing my toolbox to add it. So I gotta decide on the trade-off. However it will fit in line better with a rack system. I am wanting to setup a bit more towards an overland type setup. Not for any serious overlanding but for making it a great ride to take camping or just going to the beach for a day.

This is awesome!

Can you post more pics of how it attaches. Does it just attach to the bottom side or does it wrap around to the top side of the seat too?
