I just hope the combination of console and column shifter will still be available... For me the perfect setup, lots of space in the console and the oldstyle shifter feeling.

I like column shift too. I'm sure base models will still have it. Im wondering if ford will make a console shifter optional on XLTs other than the sport package models
So there’s no advantage really...I assumed you’d at least gain that space while driving, but if that’s not the case....it is...well...targeted at a very narrow part of the market that may not even want it?! #dialshifterforthewin
I think it would be good for a contractor. Maybe the console lid flips over or extends somehow and you can use it like a small table. You could set your laptop on it etc.
Saw this on Instagram the other day, thought I'd share. Looks to me like an expedition with a bed on it. The way ford redesigned the '97-'03 f150s I can see this happening. For all f150s not just the EV. What do you all think?
No No No
Plug-in Electric F-150's are just wrong.
Maybe a gas/diesel drive generator powering an electric motor at each wheel, but not plug-in.
This just gives me flashbacks to the Julia Louis-Dreyfus skit on SNL for the Mercedes AA Class. If you haven't seen it, it's on YouTube, here...

Ditto on column shifter. Frees up space on the console. One reason I did not go with the sport package.

if it was a *permanent* gain of space I’d 100% agree with your comment, based on what people said here you can only do that while you are parked...can’t see the benefits of something so complicated...
if the focus is a very tiny part of the market, either expand the column shifter or introduce a dial shifter - I’d call it the ‘contractor package’ - so one would be able to spec a Lariat, with the contractor package that basically opens up space in the console and move the shifter to the column - I am unsure why Ford engineers didn’t think outside the box.

The Lariat 500A package is built with a column shifter for the person that works out of their truck. The fold down center seat provides a spot to rest your arm , beverage or other things. The console actually gets in the way because most who work out of their truck needs the space for other things. Rather it be contractors or law enforcement, they usually install their own equipment in that space.

so this already exists....why spend money on a fold shift?!!!? Just confirmed my argument 100x
The folding shifter never made sense to me because even if you put a laptop there its so far from you. You would be hunched over trying to type on it unless you had some type of mount.
