Yea, a lot of people use Jotto desk. You can find used ones on ebay for like 30 or 40 bucks.

They sure do but you have to specifically ask for a 500A Lariat. Some salesmen have no idea they exist. Not very many out there but my local Ford dealer has a couple of them.

that was actually suggested for the Explorer, a few reviewers were speculating If Ford has hired a bunch of students fresh of school and let them design the whole thing...

I can see how they did the same here LOL....this interior is definitely interior than the 2017 Escape...it just looks cheap all the way.

It actually kinda makes sense when I think about it. The most important thing to kids and most adults is the plastic phone in their hands. Technology rules these days and material quality has taken a back seat. There was a time when the living furniture was a big to do. Now, no one cares about your Corinthian leather sofa. Instead the big piece of plastic hanging from your wall is the talk of the town. How big is the screen? Can it download apps and so on. Seems like the majority would rather have the tech along with a decent interior.
