I sold my 17 today. I'm kind of sad about it, but honestly the lease was coming to an end in a couple of months, and it was a good deal. Clears the way for something new. I'm considering a new F150 (21), a Ram, or a Mustang. Really torn on it. I want a Mustang badly, but it's hard to go from a truck to a non-truck.

The dealer is just the broker, Ford Corp owns the lease, the vehicle, & sets the residual. 99.9% of the time, the dealer will not buy the lease vehicle directly off return. It's cheaper for them to return it back to Ford, and buy it at auction if they really want it.
So, no, to answer your question, you can terminate the lease anywhere as long as Ford get's paid, or get's the vehicle back. It is, however, much easier working through a Ford dealer, for obvious reasons.

I have a gas-sipping daily driver, and my Jeep. I'm in a decent position to wait for a good deal, or wait for the new truck to check it out.

Today is a fantastic day!!! I can see a better future for all the new Fords, I am excited again to be part of the 24-25 F150 design.

Rumours are already swirling internally that this was a let go kinda of scenario.

I did sell it to the dealer I bought it from. Never done that before, but in the era of Covid, I actually made money on the deal despite being over the miles. So rather than have the truck sit there collecting dust and making more lease payments, and then have to pay on over-mileage bill, I sold it in a positive market for used vehicles and made a small amount on it. To answer your other question, I had called Ford Credit to ask about selling the truck. At that time, I had a compelling offer from Carvana. Ford said I could not do that. They said I'd have to buy the truck out and then sell it. I called Carvana, and they seemed to have no concern about this, which I thought contradictory. But the deal with my Ford dealer came through and that was the easier option anyway. So I never totally got to the bottom of that question as to whether I could sell it while still under lease. The Ford guy wouldn't even give me a payoff number, and told me I'd have to get that from the dealer.

They are preparing only two premieres of Ford vehicles. It will be a Bronco and Bronco sport. When will we have news about F-150?
